Job Summary

Responsible for the day-to-day administration, technical support, troubleshooting, maintenance, upgrades, patching, performance and overall health of an Oracle and Microsoft SQL database infrastructure within a UNIX, Linux, and Microsoft Windows Server clustered server environment. Ensure high levels of data availability and reliability of the systems. Respond effectively to the continuing demands for information 24/7 by business clients, contractors, and other areas of IT.

Job Responsibilities

Primary Responsibilities include:
 
•    Work closely with business clients in understanding data access requirements and ensuring proper performance of transactions within the database in support of complex business application development requirements and processes
•    Work closely with Product Managers and vendors on new systems, enhancements, and upgrades to the database environment
•    Monitor and deploy security patches as required to maintain a secure system; provide support for database security to ensure database integrity and user access
•    Proactively seek out ways to improve performance and streamline database environments
•    Performs database version upgrades and ensure high levels of data availability and reliability of the systems
•    Develops and implements processes and queries for data extraction, transformation, and loading data into databases.
•    Monitors databases for performance issues and implements solutions for on-going database maintenance
Assists in troubleshooting databases issues affecting databases reliability and uptime availability.
•    Designs policies and procedures for the administration of the databases, maintenance and upgrades of database software, and oversight of backups and standby databases. Establish and maintain databases for user tests and production purposes
•    Designs policies and procedures related to database security that adhere to Corporate Security Standards, eliminates potential security weaknesses, and reduces risks
•    Manages Disaster Recovery planning, testing and execution
 

Job Specific Qualifications

Required Education and Experience:

•    Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM)
•    A minimum of 6 years of DBA experience in design and administration of logical and relational databases in diverse technological environments 
•    Experience in configuring and managing Oracle RAC, Clusterware, Grid infrastructure, Oracle ASM, OEM, GoldenGate, Partitioning, Advanced Tuning 
•    Develop and maintain system documentation related to your Oracle Exadata and software configuration
•    Experience with Oracle engineered systems (Exadata) including tuning, patching, maintenance, backup/recovery and troubleshooting
•    Apply process and architectural improvements to continually improve the availability, capacity, and performance of database systems 
•    Understanding of the systems development lifecycle
•    Solid understanding of business processes
•    Strong analytical skills
•    Demonstrated strong communication skills
•    Ability to exercise strong judgment and the ability to work effectively with clients and IT management and staff

Desired:
•    ITIL Foundation certificate
•    Oracle certifications
•    Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI), Oracle Autonomous Databases
•    Experience with Oracle ExaCC 
•    Familiar with Oracle database resource manager, Ansible/automation/scripting
•    Experience with patching grid infrastructure software
•    Strong Unix/Linux scripting and automation skills
