Job Summary

This position will report to the President/COO of PSEG Long Island and is a member of PSEG Long Island’s capital Utility Review Board (URB).  Directly reporting to this leader are Director of Procurement and managers of real estate, operations, business services, strategic planning, business performance excellence, risk management, internal audit, and legal records management. 

The Mgr Dir & Vice President, Business Services, PSEG Long Island has responsibility for enterprise-wide strategic planning and development of strategic plans for each of the primary business areas, and real estate including oversight of Capital and O&M budget development. The Mgr Dir/VP will work very closely with several cross-functional partners including Business Leads, Finance and other key partners.   This position will be the key thought leader for the business teams in ensuring the broader organization’s ability to achieve success both strategically and tactically and is responsible for implementing strategies to assist with the successful and timely execution of business improvement plans, establishing processes and procedures to secure the organization’s compliance and reporting of performance in relation to strategic plans, business improvement plans, and performance metrics.  Areas of oversight include the affiliate billing process to ensure affiliate charges are timely and accurate and receive an annual review and approval by LIPA and financial aspects of the PSEG Long Island as it relates to planning and budgeting and developing Board material.


The Mgr Dir & Vice President, Business Services is connected to the Company's internal and external customers and regulatory agencies and is able to work with a variety of constituencies; has effective skills in the broad political and regulatory arenas within which the Company operates; a leader who is thoughtful and diplomatic in difficult forums. This person will possess thought leadership, strategic thinking, communication, and organizational skills, and will have a proven record of excellence operating independently and within a high performing team environment.

Job Responsibilities

• Lead a team of professionals who are tasked to provide actionable insights by identifying and analyzing key performance indicators.
• Ability to manage multiple and complex work streams and work across departmental boundaries and deliver a diverse set of initiatives that result in transformational outcomes. Proven ability to deliver results in a fast paced and highly matrixed environment.
• Partner with LIPA and senior leadership team to develop PSEG Long Island’s long term strategy and strategic roadmap, including leading PSEGLI’s strategic vision for electric rates and affordability within the context of balancing competing priorities for customer service, reliability, and clean energy.
• Establish compliance with and reporting of performance in relation to strategic plans, business performance, and performance measurement.
• Collaborate with senior leadership team to set goals to ensure that departmental and organizational objectives and operating requirements are met and are in line with the vision and mission of the organization and LIPA.
• Provide executive leadership, direction, and support for the financial planning and operations of PSEG Long Island’s shared services functions and ensure alignment with LIPAs and PSEG’s corporate policy initiatives.
• Develop and implement strategies to enable PSEGLI to meet its performance metrics and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Responsible for all matters of real estate; both common and non-plant properties and the optimization of PSEG Long Island’s real estate portfolio in a post-COVID environment.
• Serve as PSEG Long Island’s primary point of contact to LIPA. Establish protocols for receiving, documenting and disseminating all requests (service and informational) from LIPA, DPS, or any other regulatory/government entity to the business.
• Develop, track and monitor responses related to IRs, board recommendations, data requests and metrics.
• Review and approve materials prepared by PSEG Long Island for presentation to LIPA’s Board.
• Build company image by collaborating with customers, government, community organizations, and employees; enforcing ethical business practices.


Job Specific Qualifications

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, accounting, or other highly analytical fields

Minimum Years of Experience, Qualifications, and Competencies

  • 15 years’ experience with demonstrated strong business, preferably within the energy or utility industry or similar industries
  • Five years of executive experience and the ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to rapidly changing situations
  • Strong working knowledge of finance
  • Sound judgment and analytic ability to support fact-based and situation-appropriate development of financial projections; strong problem-solving skills of complex issues involving technical, personnel, logistical, and customer-related matters. Ability to make quick decisive prioritization of efforts under internal and external pressure
  • Demonstrated communication and negotiation skills to influence key stakeholders
  • Proven ability to provide immediate value, lead diverse organizations, design and implement new processes
  • Proven skillset in translating PSEGLI strategy into clear priorities for execution; sets challenging growth- oriented objectives
  • Demonstrated success in designing and implementing large projects/processes to improve business results
  • Proven ability to build, diverse high functioning and integrated teams
  • Ability to confidently communicate and present to many levels within the organization
  • Proven reputation and ability to lead at a strategic level while navigating executable results. Ability to develop strong working knowledge of PSEGLI policies, procedures, and business controls. Ability to articulate strategies, ideas, processes, and technical matters at all levels of the organizations including senior leadership, as well as external stakeholders such as regulators and customers

  • MBA, CPA, JD
  • Six sigma master black belt certification
  • Experience with both the delivery and deployment aspects of large-scale business transformation projects
