Job Summary

Manage & coordinate work requirements for Projects & Construction Department  to maximize contractor  field efficiencies and workforce utilization by providing a consistent progression of work to meet internal and external need dates.
 

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities including but not limited to:

  • Coordinate resources (internal personnel, contractors, special equipment, vehicles, tools, etc.) and satisfy job requirements (prepare distribution cover sheets, switching & clearance requests, outage coordination, flagging, tree trim, etc.) in order to support  timely completion of work.
  • Prepare complete work packages with all required documents (specifications, drawings, one-lines, material lists, Health and Safety Plans ) for Construction Supervisors and Sr. Construction Supervisors for assigned construction projects.
  • Participate in bi-weekly work plan meetings to discuss status of ongoing work, upcoming work & provide information on job readiness and manpower availability.
  • Work with Construction Supervisors, Sr. Construction Supervisors and the Asset Strategy Group to ensure all records are accurate and documentation is assembled to close out projects.
  • Coordinate with materials management to ensure materials are available to meet schedules, assist in the management of material requirements, and report material deficiencies to the appropriate stakeholders.  Assist with pre-staging and delivery of materials to job site:  conduct inventory.
  • Communicate with customers in order to coordinate appointments & planned outages, as well as resolution of inquiries and any other communications that may be necessary.
  • Coordinate training for Construction Management personnel.
  • Manage the National Joint Use Notification System (NJUNS) database for poles replaced on contractor work and the work within to ensure all deadlines are met and penalties avoided.
  • Attend pre-bid meetings with the Sr. Construction Supervisors.  Support documentation during the request-for-proposal cycle with Procurement.  Follow up with Engineering and other stakeholders on inquiries during the bid cycle for the Sr. Construction Supervisor.  Forward responses to Procurement for posting on Power Advocate.
  • Act as a liason to provide support to relevant third parties in order to ensure everyone is informed and aware of changes to workplan, schedules and decisions taken.

Job Specific Qualifications

•    Bachelor’s degree with 2 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the scheduling, design, or construction areas of the electric utility industry or an Associate’s Degree with a minimum 3 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the scheduling, design, or construction areas of the electric utility industry.
    In lieu of a degree, 4 years of work experience, preferably in scheduling, design, or construction areas of the electric utility industry.
•    Proficient in relevant software e.g. Microsoft Office products, SAP & EGIS and possess the ability to quickly learn new systems and applications.
•    Knowledge of business operations, policies, and practices
•    Effective communication and interpersonal skills are necessary to effectively interface and communicate with people at all levels and across organizations.
•    Demonstrated personal accountability and excellent organizational skills to deliver performance excellence.
•    Experience in reading, interpreting, and managing project and program schedules
•    Experience in reading drawings, one-line diagrams.
•    Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license with a safe and satisfactory driver history

Preferred Knowledge and Experience:

•    Knowledge of transmission, distribution and substation construction practices, Construction Standards, work methods, labor agreements, electrical equipment, vehicles, tools, and understanding of corporate finance & budget practices is preferable
•    Experience in fact finding including knowledge and understanding of where to find and how to present relevant information
•    Experience of using projecUcontract management systems in order to understand and analyze data. Experience is often acquired through on the job training
•    Proficient in relevant software e.g. Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Project)
•    Knowledge of PSEGLl's business operations, company policies and practices.
•    Operating experience working with SAP
