Job Summary

PSEG Long Island is seeking a summer intern to work with the Electric Operations – Distribution Control Room Team

The Control Room team is responsible for managing the Long Island Electric Distribution system.

This position will be in-person at the Hicksville location

Job Responsibilities

The successful intern responsibilities include, but not limited to the following: work on short-term projects related to the Distribution Operations organization; involved in day to day activities of the Distribution Control Room and assist control room personnel in electric control room operations; spend time with other PSEG Long Island groups and departments to gain a better understanding of the Company and its activities

  • Promote safety and productivity in the Control Room environment for up to 30 service workers and 9 operators in order to ensure safety, reliability, security and integrity consistent with company goals, objectives and policies.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot customer electrical issues interruptions, high/low voltage, flickering lights and open neutrals in order to identify and deliver to benefit the customer & company.
  • Communicate with various internal & external organizations, including regulators, elected officials & major account customers to update them & resolve various issues

 

Job Specific Qualifications

Required Education/Skills: The successful candidate (s) must be actively pursuing a Bachelor's, degree from an accredited institution in Engineering. Candidate must have completed sophomore level coursework by the start of the internship program to be considered. PSEG Long Island recognizes institutions of higher education, which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent.   Because this position requires driving to various PSEG Long Island Locations, a valid driver’s license and clean driving history
