Job Summary
The primary responsibility of this position is to support the planning and evaluation functions of the Energy Efficiency department by providing subject matter expertise and leading day-to-day activities related to various annual, quarterly, and periodic deliverables required to be developed and issued by the Planning and Evaluation group. This position will backstop the Planning and Evaluation Manager and will lead day-to-day activities related to routine planning and evaluation activities related to energy efficiency and beneficial electrification, along with supporting similar efforts related to electric vehicles and customer sited photovoltaic and storage efforts.
The position will be expected to maintain a high level of awareness of on-going New York State and Federal policy and regulatory proceedings related to the energy efficiency, beneficial electrification and other areas and ensure that such undertakings are considered as part of PSEG Long Island’s planning and reporting efforts. The position will serve as the subject matter expert in interfacing with technical representatives from the Long island Power Authority and other New York State entities with respect to explaining technical details, approaches and analysis used in the development of various work products and deliverables. This will require the position to have a detailed understanding of New York State and PSEG Long Island planning processes, technical resource manuals, terms of the art, approaches, etc.
The position will support the Planning and Evaluation Manager and will serve as a source of information, experience, and expertise to two junior level positions assisting on the same efforts within the Planning and Evaluation group.
This position will be significantly involved with a 6 year planning effort currently being undertaken and required to be completed by June 2024.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
• Lead day-to-day planning and evaluation efforts required to be undertaken by PSEG Long Island
• Fill in for the Planning and Evaluation Manager when needed
• Maintain cognizance of all new State and Federal new regulatory initiatives/efforts which will affect planning efforts
• Initiate efforts aimed at increasing planning capability and accuracy using data science and modelling
• Develop relationships with counterparts at other New York State electric utilities to ensure awareness of similarities and differences in program offerings
• Work with various other areas of the organization as well as third party implementation contractor staff in a cooperative and complimentary manner to achieve overall objectives.
• Liaison with peers in operating and customer departments to make sure that future offerings and individual responsibilities are known, planned for and budgeted such that offerings can be successfully carried out
• Identify strengths and weaknesses in current planning approach and suggest opportunities for improving process and potentially reducing cost
• Participate in Companywide meetings regarding efforts related to Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act supporting efforts
Job Specific Qualifications
Required:
• Bachelors’ preferably in business, math, economics, engineering or computer science.
• Minimum of 7 years of analytical or technical experience with at least 4 years in a capacity which required developing plans for regulatory filings supporting one of the following: energy efficiency, beneficial electrification, customer sited renewables, electric vehicles or other customer directed program offerings.
• Must possess demonstrated time management skills and have a demonstrated ability to work in both team and independent settings.
• Must possess exceptional written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
• Must demonstrate the ability to build and maintain strong working relationships
• Must possess the ability to develop and deliver an informative and effective presentation.
• Must possess exceptional customer sensitivity and commitment to customer satisfaction.
• Must have and maintain a valid US driver’s license with a safe and satisfactory driving history.
Desired:
• Electric Utility energy efficiency planning and evaluation experience in New York State.
• Candidate should be able to interact with all levels of fellow employees, third party contractors as well as LIPA, NYSERDA and NYSDPS staff.
• Master’s degree
