(Data Architect, Sr. Data Architect, Principal Data Architect)

This position has a career path which provides for promotional opportunities within and across grades as you develop and evolve in the position; gaining experience, expertise and acquiring and applying technical skills. 

 

This position is a direct report to the PSEGLI IT Product Leader.   The Data Architect is responsible for leading the effort to organize and represent data from various system platforms, and drive the appropriate use of this data.  Data Architect will be the subject matter expert in the formation and execution of data governance framework, policy, and standards.

  • Drive the execution of data architecture using industry best practices. Specifically - Provide technical and architectural guidance to teams across all platforms and infrastructures, including promoting adherence to design standards and methodologies.
  • Build and maintain metadata repositories, data dictionaries, data lineage tracking and data quality scorecards.
  • Provide leadership and expertise on standard application integration patterns, Enterprise Service Business (ESB), web services, Application Programming Interface (API) creation, management and cloud data governance. Experience with Mulesoft platform a plus.
  • Architect modular solutions that seamlessly integrate into the enterprise ecosystem and sustain business continuity.
  • Responsible for defining the data structures (logical and physical) to support data integrity, performance and recoverability across batch, real-time and near real-time frameworks
  • Create cloud deployment architecture and cloud integration solutions (i.e mobile apps, microservices, data lake, analytics, artificial intelligence and machine learning solutions)
  • Collaborate with various IT and business analytic teams to develop Big Data reference -- architecture patterns for data ingestion, data processing, analytics and data science solutions.
  • Work collaboratively with multiple user groups to assess the analytical needs and identify dependencies across organization and tools to implement an enterprise wide data architecture (and data lake) and support cross domain data integration for reporting, and analytics.

 

Required Education, Knowledge & Experience:

Data Architect

Required Education & Experience:   Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Engineering or Business Administration with a concentration in one of the mentioned disciplines, with a minimum 2 years of professional experience within the information technology field or an industry with reliance on technical expertise.

  • Minimum 2 years data architecture experience with proven experience of profiling of legacy and strategic; experience of designing, updating and maintaining standard conceptual, logical and physical data models and defining and building standard technical and data architectures for medium applications 

Senior Data Architect

Required Education & Experience: Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Engineering or Business Administration with a concentration in one of the mentioned disciplines minimum 4 years of professional experience within the information technology field or an industry with reliance on technical expertise.

  • Minimum 4 years data architecture experience with proven experience of profiling of legacy and strategic data source systems; designing, updating and maintaining standard conceptual, logical and physical data models and defining and building standard technical and data architectures for medium applications
  • Minimum 2 years proven experience developing data governance standards

Principal Data Architect

Required Education & Experience:  Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Engineering or Business Administration with a concentration in one of the mentioned disciplines with a minimum 8 years of professional experience within the information technology field or an industry with reliance on technical expertise

  • Minimum 8 years data architecture experience with proven experience of profiling of legacy and strategic data source systems and defining and building standard technical and data architectures for medium applications
  • Minimum 6 years proven experience developing data governance standards;
  • Minimum 4 years proven experience supporting and coaching other data architects and supporting large sized complex projects, addressing issues & concerns to ensure project meet IT & business goals
  • Experience in a team lead role through projects and other work planning experiences

 

Knowledge and experience with designing of technology solutions in support of core business functions by evaluating end user needs, client goals, budgets and existing applications to define system requirements and technical standards for business systems and how they align with user needs.

This position requires driving to company locations and off-site assignments and events, applicants must possess a valid driver’s license with a safe and satisfactory driver history.

  

Preferred Education, Skills & Experience: 

  • Preferred Master's Degree in Computer Science, Computer Information Systems, Computer Engineering, Information Technology Discipline Certifications (i.e Technical certifications, AWS); Ability to proactively communicate technical topics in a clear, succinct, and relevant way. 
  • Experience working within a team; Excellent teamwork, facilitation, relationship building, and negotiation skills; Ability to think strategically about business, product and technical challenges;  IT professional with utility and/or customer systems experience such us
  • Experience with analytical methodology & technology
  • Ability to manage multiple large sized projects
  • Ability to write complex SQL statements/scripts to perform data manipulation
  • Develop governance that promotes data standards.
  • Provide support and coaching to other data architects
  • Strong leadership and influence skills.   Ability to work through issues independently with successful outcomes
  • Excellent teamwork, facilitation, relationship building, and negotiation skills.
  • Proactively identify key features, capabilities and areas of improvements needed within the products
  • Customer service and operations (Customer Relationship Management (CRM), Interactive Voice Recording (IVR), Billing, Automatic Meter Infrastructure (AMI) Meters, Customer facing apps, etc.)
  • Transmission distribution operations (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA), Distribution Management systems (DMS), Geographic Information Systems (GIS), Outage Management System (OMS), Energy management Systems (EMS), Work Management (WMGMT), Pie Historian PI, CYME is load forecasting tool)
