Public Service Electric & Gas Company (PSE&G) has openings for Temporary Customer Service Representatives - Bilingual Spanish in our Bordentown, N.J. Call Center. These positions entail interacting with customers on issues related to their gas and electric service. The successful candidate must be a self-starter and able to handle customer contacts in a pleasant and courteous manner, with specific focus on demonstrating empathy with each customer interaction.

Performs work in the Customer Inquiry Center attendant to the proper interviewing or handling inquires of customers by telephone concerning requests for electric and gas service, or its discontinuance, on problems arising from the use of such service and explaining other related miscellaneous Company practices and procedures incidental to the handling of customer inquiries. Duties include such work as:

1. Answer customer inquiries on meter reading matters and account balance information
2. Accept applications from customers for electric and gas service or its discontinuance
3. Receive requests for work required for the proper maintenance of service, appliances meters, etc., and explain Company procedures and, where possible, quote probable costs.
4. Prepare or generate orders, reports, etc., necessary in connection with assigned work.
5. Generate emergency service orders such as gas leak, wire down, no power, etc.
6. Assist in work of other departments, as required and assigned.

1. Must have a minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent.

2. Must have exceptional poise and tact, as indicated by the ability to handle routine contacts in a pleasant and courteous manner and to explain procedures related to the work of Customer Services Business Unit.
3. Must be generally familiar with the more commonly used electric and gas appliances.
4. Must be neat and accurate in work as indicated by the ability to compile data and to prepare orders, forms, and statements which are used without independent check.
5. Must be able to understand, transmit, and apply oral and written instructions.
6. Must possess excellent communication and telephone skills, strong keyboard skills along with the knowledge of computers. Must have flexible availability and must satisfactorily pass designated tests.

7. Must be fluent in English and Spanish.
8. Must pass all applicable hiring tests.


As an employee of PSE&G or PSEG Long Island, you should be aware that during storm restoration efforts, you may be required to perform functions outside of your routine duties and on a schedule that may be different from normal operations.
