Job Summary

This opportunity is open to current PSEG employees only.

The successful candidate for this position will be responsible for the quality and availability of information obtained from the Gas System Operation Center’s (GSOC) 7 X 24 Gas Management & Control System/Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (GMACS/SCADA). They will display an existing understanding of or a demonstrated ability and willingness to learn Gas Operations, utility, and industry along with real time technologies such as SCADA and Control Systems. Provide a range of high level IT and Gas System Management engineering consulting services to maintain the overall integrity of the SCADA system. In addition, they will respond to the daily reliability and security needs of system operations.

Job Responsibilities

•    Evaluates complex client area requirements and processes.
•    Server and workstation administration including patching, hardening and performance tuning.
•    Execute short-term and long-term Gas System Development planning.
•    Assists in end-user training and works closely with System Operations on network security issues.
•    Guides and provides technical leadership, support and training to members of the support staff.
•    Keep abreast of technology, industry and business trends to ensure that appropriate technologies are being considered in the planning process that meet departmental and organizational requirements.
•    Maintain and apply working knowledge of PSEG Standards for Business Controls and Security and meet management's expectations for effective internal business controls, physical and cyber security. 
•    Develops and prepares solutions which may involve GMACS application software, data modeling, and regulatory guidelines.
•    Designing SCADA HMI to improve usability including line displays, tabular reporting including display updating and troubleshooting.
 

Job Specific Qualifications

Required:
•    Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related discipline and a minimum of 8 years of equivalent experience
•    Demonstrated experience in administering Windows and Linux operating systems.
•    Fundamental knowledge of the installation, management, and support of computer system applications.
•    Understanding of data networks and telemetry.
•    Working knowledge of information security issues, trends and leading practices.
•    Experience in real-time operations systems support.
•    Demonstrated experience prioritizing and handling multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
•    Demonstrated experience in effective problem-solving and decision-making, strong planning and organizing skills, must be adaptable and be results-oriented
•    Must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license and maintain a safe driving record 
•    Demonstrated  advanced verbal and written communication skills
 
Desired Qualifications: 

•    Strong working knowledge of Cybersecurity best practices
•    At least 5 years of experience designing, developing, and coding applications using mySql, php, .NET, XML and Microsoft Suite
•    Knowledge of Electric and/or Gas industrial control networks and operations technology.
•    Experience in SCADA systems design and analysis.
•    Experience with cyber security processes, tools, and technologies and extensive knowledge of best practices regarding their implementation in a SCADA environment.
•    Knowledge in Gas Pipeline Systems engineering to enable interaction with GMACS vendor on complex technical issues.
•    Advanced degree.
