Job Summary
Support the operation of PSEG’s Electric System Operation Center (ESOC), which operates 24x7 and 365 days per year. Provide a range of engineering consulting services to maintain the integrity of the Bulk Electric Systems (BES). Provide technical support to client and associate support staff to ensure development and deployment of efficient application systems utilizing established standards, procedures and methodologies. Utilize a broad knowledge of business and engineering principles and practices, including financial and cost management. In addition consults by providing analysis, and maintenance of the communication infrastructure for the SCADA (Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition) and EMS systems in support of ESOC and PJM with within NERC CIP and cyber security program. Provides technical support to client and associate support staff to ensure development and deployment of efficient application systems utilizing established standards, procedures and methodologies.
Job Responsibilities
- Make changes to EMS SCADA database to add/delete/modify RTU Configurations. SCADA alarm priorities, limit sets for analog points. Configure analog/status points in the Energy Management Systems (EMS).
- Perform modeling and display building tasks for EMS.
- Develop and maintain EMS system models (i.e. power flow, state estimator, and network topology), coordinate operating models and modeling data with PJM and neighboring utilities, maintain accurate records of analyses, data, and calculations.
- Support commissioning and pre-commissioning of new substations by supporting RTU point to point checkouts by working with field personnel during commissioning of new stations/points.
- Coordinate with internal PJM Transmission Services teams like Engineering, System Control and Operations to support the addition of new substations by keeping the EMS SCADA database in sync with changes in the field using existing tools and processes.
- Keep EMS one lines in sync with field changes using the EMS vendor approved Display Editor tools.
- Be part of the EMS Application 24X7 on-call team
Job Specific Qualifications
Required
- Bachelors in STEM discipline, relevant to required discipline
- 0-2 years industry and engineering experience
- Knowledge of EMS and/or SCADA
- Proficient in relevant Microsoft Office applications
- Knowledge of relevant technologies (e.g., network protocols, electric technology, regulatory controls, etc.)
- Must possess the ability to read applicable technical documents and/or schematics.
- A valid U.S. driver’s license with a safe and satisfactory driver history
- On call 24/7 hours to assist during system emergency situations and restoration.
Desired
- Familiarity with Linux operating environment, Linux shells, standard utilities
- Experience with all administrative functions related to high available/critical, redundant, and real-time systems
- Knowledge of communication technologies (e.g., network protocols, LAN/WAN, and Fiber networks), SCADA protocols
