This is a “Project” position designed to support project work for a limited duration. While the exact duration of the project is yet to be determined, we currently anticipate a period of 3-5 years based on business needs at the present time following which you will separate from the Company. It is important for you to understand that this period may be shortened based on business needs in the future at which point you will separate from the Company. It is also important for you to understand that this employment is of a limited duration and that you will not be entitled to separation benefits under any PSEG plan at the time you separate from the Company. Director Level approval and waiver will be required for you to bid on other PSEG opportunities within the first 3 years of assignment. From year 4 through the end of your assignment, Director level approval and waiver will not be required. If your assignment ends prior to the anticipated timeframe based on business needs, you will be allowed to bid on other PSEG opportunities without Director level approval from the time you are notified your assignment will be ending through the end date of the assignment.

 

Position description:

The Senior Environmental Specialist will provide technical and regulatory direction, guidance and implementation of environmental compliance programs for Utility operating locations and construction projects in accordance with Federal, State and local regulations. Responsible for assuring facility / project environmental compliance with federal, state and local regulations, permits and corporate guidelines including air, waste, PCB’s, water, UST, SARA, SPCC management and environmental audit process. Prepare procedures relating to compliance with environmental requirements. Develop and prepare reports to regulatory agencies. Independently interface with consultants and regulatory agency representatives to develop or discuss complex environmental issues / projects. Coordinate and guide compliance efforts across the utility. Identify and evaluate compliance trends and recommend corrective action or system improvements.

 

Oversee activities of employees and contractors addressing the environmental impacts of our operations on PSE&G and customer properties. Serve as liaison between project and operating locations on environmental issues. Monitor and insure adherence to these standards by contractors during project work. Identify and address compliance gaps. Foster activities to establish utility-wide compliance programs where appropriate. Manage environmental costs and support budget development.  Generating and maintaining the performance metrics (milestones and budget) for the division, interfacing with senior management and regulators, and ensuring support from internal stakeholders is adequate to ensure success.  Supervise environmental professionals and technical staff including; the development of performance metrics, the monitoring of performance, provide mentoring and employee feedback and prepare employee performance reviews.

 

Required:

• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Chemistry, Science or relevant coursework / experience

• Minimum of 7 years relevant experience in environmental compliance programs, environmental engineering or consulting
• Experience working with environmental regulations and compliance programs
• Minimum three years’ experience in Energy Business, Utility operations, construction or related area
• Knowledge of State and Federal Environmental regulations
Because the job requires driving to company locations and off-site assignments and events, must possess a valid driver’s license with a safe and satisfactory driver history.

 

Desired:

• 3-5 years supervisory experience
• Advanced degree in environmental sciences or engineering
• CHMM Certification or PE

 

Certain positions at the Company may require you to have access to Part 810-Controlled Information.  Under the law, the Company is limited in who it can share this information with and in certain circumstances it is necessary to obtain specific authorization before the Company can share this information.  Accordingly, if the position does require access to this information, you must complete a 10 CFR Part 810 Export Control Compliance Nationality Request Form, a copy of which will be provided to you by Talent Acquisition if an offer is made.  If there is a need for specific authorization, due to the time it takes to obtain authorization from the government, we will likely not be able to further proceed with an offer.
