Job Summary

This opportunity is open to current PSEG employees only.

This position plays a key role in the governance and oversight of Utility and Line of Business (LOB) health and safety processes under the direction of the Compliance Manager - Utility Health and Safety.  The position specifically mines and collects data, performs data analysis, performs benchmarking, and uses analysis to identify incident trends, potential causes and the likelihood of future outcomes based on historical data.

 

 

Job Responsibilities

• Provide analytical and program support to the Utility health and safety process. 
• Gather and link data from diverse sources in order to perform analyses, identify trends and correlations, develop and track metrics, identify performance gaps and present opportunities for improvement. 
• Apply predictive analytics to extract information from existing data sets in order to determine patterns and forecast future outcomes and trends.
• Support the PSE&G health and safety training program through the assessment, analysis, development and implementation of training-related data and material.
• Develops and completes quarterly, monthly and weekly reports related to scorecard and health and safety initiatives to Senior Leadership Team members (SLT), Utility management, LOB safety professionals and safety councils. 
• Evaluates current methods used by Health & Safety for storing and tracking data and electronic files (i.e., Microsoft Sharepoint, network drives, etc.), and design and recommend consolidation, security, efficiency and usability improvements.
• Must be able to lead teams and track milestones for continuous improvement initiatives.
• Designs, develops and delivers standardized databases, forms, queries and reports for capturing, organizing, tracking, retrieving, assembling and disseminating Health & Safety data and metrics from the following: 
o Existing processes in SAP
o Health & Safety observations in the field
o Health & Safety audits and assessments
o Commitment Tracking and Performance
o Health & Safety-related incidents, injuries and near-misses
o Health & Safety-related investigations and corrective actions
o Fleet motor vehicle accidents
o Fleet motor vehicle, vehicle event recorder and driver data
o Health & Safety training data
o Reports as determined by Utility senior management

• Undertakes benchmarking efforts to identify industry best in class performance and measure Utility performance relative to targets.
• Interfaces personally with Utility executive leadership, management and process owners to support, obtain and act on feedback for all elements of the Health and Safety analysis process. 
• Attends Utility SLT and LOB management level meetings as needed to present results and studies.
• Works collaboratively and shares data with Corporate Health and Safety professionals.
• Develops and maintains databases, spreadsheets, presentations, documents, Tableau data visualization files, etc. 
• Supports the development, implementation and administration of health and safety tools such as the Corporate Safety Information Management System, etc.
• Performs data quality assurance and maintenance of Health and Safety programs and measurement systems as assigned

Job Specific Qualifications

Bachelor’s  Degree or 4 years of extensive analytical and quantitative analysis experience. 
• . • Proficiency with MS Office products (e.g. Excel, PowerPivot, Access, Word, PowerPoint, etc), data visualization software (e.g Tableau) and data management software and tools (e.g. SQL, AWS).
• Experience in data mining, query and report design., or • Demonstrated experience with predictive analytics tools and techniques.
• Demonstrated ability to develop new approaches with applicable tools to measure success.
• Detail oriented, driven and able to effectively work independently.
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively across department boundaries. 
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Must foster an inclusive work environment and respect all aspects of diversity
• Must possess and maintain a U.S. valid driver’s license and safe driving record.


Desired:
• Masters/MBA.
• Database development, and programming. 
• A strong background and understanding of the Health & Safety discipline
• Experience working in a utility and/or generation technical training environment
• Working knowledge of company applications including SAP, AIRSWEB Safety Information Management System (SIMS), AIMS, etc. 
• Experience in industry benchmarking groups and studies. 
• Comfortable with public speaking and giving presentations to a variety of audiences and facilitating joint union/management process improvement teams.
