Job Summary

Responsible as a technical lead in the area of reactor engineering.  Provides technical direction as well as day-to-day and on-call engineering support with a focus on achieving top quartile performance in reactivity management.  Responsible for assessing, improving, and implementing reactor engineering procedures and processes which include the following responsibilities:

** The title (Assoc Engineer  - Sr Staff Engineer) and position in range assigned to the successful candidate will be determined by assessing skills and related experience from the interview process. 

Job Responsibilities

  • Conduct reactor surveillances, start up and power ascension testing. 
  • Support and plan plant reactivity maneuvers including generating reactivity plans, monitoring the reactor and providing recommendations to operations. 
  • Implement the Special Nuclear Material control program by performing regulatory reporting, periodic audits and planning movement of material during new fuel receipt, outages, and dry cask storage. 
  • Perform refueling activities including verification of core loading and visual inspection of assemblies. 
  • Act as owner for the spent fuel pool Boral Aging Management Program. 
  • Operate, monitor, and maintain computer programs used for core monitoring, dry cask storage fuel selection, and core flux mapping. 
  • Perform fuel reliability calculations. 
  • Operate the incore flux mapping system. 
  • Perform core thermal engineer function of the emergency plan.  Other duties as assigned.

Job Specific Qualifications

Required:

  • BS Degree in Engineering. 
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. 
  • Ability to interface on teams where different styles, approaches and strategies are used to identify and resolve issues.
  • Reactor Engineering Experience or qualification; 10 CFR 50.59 qualification; experience with: 10CFR 74 Special Nuclear Material (SNM) control and accounting, TracWorks software, CaskLoader software, ShuffleWorks software, core monitoring using fuel vendor software, incore flux map performance and data processing; scripting experience using Excel VBA.
  • Must meet and maintain PSEG Nuclear’s requirements for unescorted site access.
