Job Summary

Provides direction and oversight for the planning and execution of the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of operations/maintenance/technical/non-accredited training programs in accordance with prescribed departmental procedures, policies, and applicable regulations and requirements.  Manage and direct the training staff and consultants in delivery of training programs.  Develop and establish standards for conduct of accredited and non-accredited training and evaluates adherence to them in accordance with PSEG, regulatory, and INPO requirements. This responsibility includes all tasks concerned with the supervision of personnel such as (but not limited to); time card approval, requisition approval, credit card approval, evaluations, vacations, personal development, training, counseling, discipline, work schedules, the setting of goals and priorities and contract enforcement of those not directly employed as PSEG employees. Communicates and initiates policy or procedural changes to training instructors and the  Sr Leadership Team as required.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintaining intrusive oversight of all accredited programs and processes. Provides direction, planning and execution of the analysis, design, development, implementation, and evaluation of accredited training programs in accordance with prescribed departmental procedures, policies, and applicable regulations and requirements, such that all programs consistently sustain themselves in a state of readiness to maintain accredited status. Provides oversight and direction on preparation and execution of INPO biennial station evaluations of training, including INPO data submittals.
  • Develops long-range training assessment plans across all functional areas; strategizes and creates plans that meet the fleet’s needs based on industry trends and station focus areas. Manages the assignment of training activities between station and other external and internal constituents.  Supports station during refuel outage, projects and assessments to meet training needs. Participates in NRC, INPO and station audits/assessments and develops responses to audit findings.
  • Oversees the implementation of the operations, maintenance, and technical instructor training program. Manages training records and learning management systems to support accreditation and training evaluations within the continuum process.  Responsible for managing the training facilities equipment, materials, records and personnel qualification to maintain and support our non-accredited/accredited training programs.  Working knowledge of applicable codes (ANSI, IEEE, ASTM, NEC, NESC, etc) and regulatory requirements (NERC/FERC/NPCC).
  • Responsible for the accreditation self-assessment review process.  Oversees and manages all phases of the accreditation board. Coordinates/facilitates logistics for INPO Team Visits and continuum data submittals. Ensures readiness of training schedule, content and supporting information for INPO    Participates as part of training and station leadership team for INPO evaluations and assessments. Participates in NRC, INPO, NSRB, station, and industry audits/assessments, developing responses gaps such that programs maintain themselves on a continuous trend of improvement.
  • Provides management oversight in the field along with Senior Leadership Team members; attends and participates in station leadership meetings (such as MAOM, MRC, MRMs, Shop-Steward Meetings, etc.) commensurate with Director-level personnel.  Partners with leadership training activities to drive overall station performance.
  • Supports nuclear outages management rolls desired/required by line counterparts (OCC Managers, Task Managers, Field Observers, Issue Terminators, etc.). Develops and administers training department budget coordinated with approved goals & objectives, consistently managing, yet minimizing, the need for outside services.

Job Specific Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelors Degree in a scientific technical field (or) Educational degree (and/or) equivalent related work experience within the Commercial Nuclear industry
  • 4 or more years commercial nuclear power experience, which shall include supervisory and/or training experience
  • Must posses current practical knowledge of BWR/PWR plant systems, operating characteristics, nuclear fuel handling, nuclear operations and emergency procedures.
  • Must be able to fulfill outage duties and emergency plan position.  Must meet Nuclear requirements for unescorted plant access
  • Valid US driver's license
