Job Summary

Ensure the Radiation Protection program is in compliance with federal, state and nuclear regulations in the areas of personal radiation exposure, radioactive effluent releases, radioactive waste packaging and shipment and instrumentation.

Job Responsibilities

 

  • Responsible for the maintenance and coordination of Radiation Protection programs including; High Radiation Area control, Unconditional Release, Radioactive source control, RP instrumentation and Radioactive Material controls.
  • Participate in the Business Planning, Budget and performance review for Hope Creek. Fulfill managerial responsibilities regarding assigned staff.
  • Ensure consistent and effective work force practices through assigned supervisors/functions.
  • Responsible for dosimetry program and records. Accountable for ensuring all Health Physics programs remain healthy from a regulatory and INPO best performance standard.
  • Responsible for the management of the Radioactive Waste Shipping Program, including DAW control and storage or Radwaste.
  • Maintains a working relationship with the union and ensures that the CBA is applied consistently and fairly.

 

Job Specific Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Science or equivalent BS Degree.
  • 4 years’ experience in Radiation Protection, 3 years at a Nuclear or Commercial Power facility.
  • Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.
  • Technical knowledgeable in multiple facets of Health Physics programs and regulations.
  • Strong Knowledge of Code of Federal Regulations, and Technical Specifications.
  • Internal employee only: In lieu of a degree applicant must be an internal employee with 5 years of direct RP experience at a Supervisory or at a technical level (MAST Employee). 
  • Must meet and maintain nuclear power plant access.

 

Desired:

  • Must have radioactive material shipping training to oversee program and perform independent verifications, with either an NRRPT or CHP
