Job Summary
The overriding mission for Engineering Response Team (ERT) is to protect the work week schedule and address emergent issues to minimize the impact on engineering core business. ERT Electrical Engineer will provide maintenance with field support pertaining to simple troubleshooting and lead complex troubleshooting activities with maintenance and operations. Support maintenance and planning by resolving engineering technical issues within the work management process, this includes resolving work order holds assigned to engineering. Develop temporary power and lighting plans, review schematics and logic diagrams for emergent issue support and control room alarm bypass. Review exceptional tag-outs for plant impact and personnel safety. Perform permanent and temporary configuration changes and operability determinations. Required to support outage engineering and participate in the Emergency Response Organization. The successful candidate will also perform other assigned duties as determined by the Salem Engineering Response Team Branch Manager. The successful candidate will be responsible for balancing work time to accomplish assigned tasks.
Job Responsibilities
- Respond to technical inquiries from maintenance and provide responses to support online work
- Provide technical support in resolving operating challenges to the station
- Lead complex troubleshooting teams and support simple troubleshooting activities to identify the cause of issues and prevent re-occurrence
- Provide technical assistance for equipment that does not have specific system owners
- Develop emergent engineering modification products to support scheduled work and operational issue
- Develop minor modification packages to resolve long standing station issues and upgrade obsolete equipment
- Develop and modify calculations to support technical products
- Review and give appropriate prioritization to work backlog and protect both the online schedule
Job Specific Qualifications
Required Skills:
BS Degree in Engineering or related technical discipline, with a minimum of 5 years of engineering experience.
Must possess excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
Ability to support shift work during refueling outage, forced outages, and access industrial areas of a nuclear power plant.
Ability to gain unescorted access to a nuclear power plant.
The candidate will need to demonstrate flexibility with balancing multiple work items with various levels of priority.
Desired Skills:
Degree or experience in an electrical / controls / digital engineering or technology discipline
3+ years of Nuclear Power Plant experience.
Experience in troubleshooting electrical issues.
Experience with transformers.
Experience with high voltage cables and components.
Experience in designing electrical modifications to plant components and systems.
Previous commercial nuclear plant engineering or RO/SRO license/certification is a plus.
