Job Summary

PSEG is looking for 2 Interns for the Metering and Regulating and Gas Plants team

This job involves working as an a Technical Intern supporting the Engineering department in the Metering & Regulating (M&R) / Gas Plants organization, utilizing a broad knowledge of business and engineering principles and practices acquired through progressive experience. Based on the value of the Gas utility infrastructure, the number of customers (over 1.8 million) served and total Gas sales (over 158,800 MMcf), PSE&G Gas Transmission & Distribution is placed in the top ten of all Gas Utilities in the United States. This position focuses M&R station project work, providing technical assistance through the application of engineering and business knowledge, maintain and develop M&R station design criteria and integrate new equipment into existing or new designs.

This position will be Hybrid; with the assigned office location being Harrison, NJ

Job Responsibilities

Assignments will include working alongside professionals in the following areas:

  • Assist with Energy Strong 2, IAP workload and base capital projects
  • Review projects for the next construction year
  • Conduct engineering work utilizing engineering principles and practices and adapting it to the assigned discipline in support of work planning and facilities design of natural gas system requirements associated with ES2 and IAP programs.  This includes records updates and GIS.
  • Ensure regulatory compliance
  • Coordinate and review work of engineers and M&R Supervisors assigned to the discipline
  • Partner with M&R Operating areas to plan and monitor all work to ensure that budget and scope meet plan
  • Provide technical assistance in creating and utilizing a station capacity database, including failure flows, relief valve calculations, regulator flow characteristics (trim, Cg, Cv values), and all auxiliary equipment (heaters, scrubbers, meters)
  • Enhance Gas Quality reporting process to automate the monthly gas chromatograph calibration records
  • Provide technical assistance and support green energy initiatives and customer interconnections, such as RNG, Hydrogen blending.
  • Review data quality and provide updates and reports as needed
  • Support the M&R Asset Reconciliation project. 

 

Job Specific Qualifications

Required Education/Skills: The successful candidate(s) must be actively pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's Degree from an accredited institution in Engineering. PSEG recognizes institutions of higher education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent. Candidates must have completed freshman level course work for consideration.  

Because this position will require traveling to various PSEG locations, a valid driver's license and a safe driving record is required.

All PSEG internship roles are paid at an hourly rate, however there are no medical benefits associated with these positions. Candidates are expected to work 40 hours per week over the duration of the summer internship. We are targeting currently enrolled/matriculating students that are able to commute to their designated work location as needed. Housing, transportation, and immigration support will not be provided in association with these positions.
