Distribution Operations Department is seeking qualified Senior Distribution Supervisor whose primary role is to manage both Union and Management employees in order to safely and efficiently operate and maintain the electric distribution and transmission system during storms and non-storm conditions.   In addition to responding to electric emergencies and Customer inquiries regarding power quality, T&D Operations is responsible for the safe, reliable and efficient operation of the electric distribution and transmission system. 

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include (but not limited to) the following:
  • Supervise the field operation and maintenance of the electric distribution system and the inspection of the electric transmission system.
  • Supervises a rotating shift of Electric Foreman and Emergency Service Specialists.
  • Directly supervises field personnel in special or complex operating situations, some of which occur on an off-hour basis
  • Promote a strong safety culture including coaching, counseling and continuous improvement audits and conducting documented Job Site Observations.
  • Investigate customer inquiries and complaints.
  • Assist in the operation of the division Dispatch Center during storms or other periods of high activity. 
  • Expected to be available to work overtime when required.
  • Lead or participate in various Committee and Task Force activities related to Work Methods, tools, safety, yard, trucks and material. 
  • Lead and conduct monthly safety and information meetings.
  • Manage department capital tool budget including procurement of equipment/tools and invoice processing.  Manage vehicle replacements and purchases.
  • Expert Witness on behalf on company matters in Civil Courts and Examinations before trials (EBT's). 
  • Review and approve events/incident.  Lead or participate in Incident Analyses including conducting advanced Root Cause Analysis.
  • Responsible for ensuring annual regulatory training is completed by Servicemen.
  • Demonstrate project management experience including cost control methods.
  • Supervising a 24 hour a day/7 days a week response team expected to ensure safe uninterrupted service, especially during storms

Job Specific Qualifications

 Required:

  • Bachelor of Science Degree and 5 years of electric utility experience in the operation and maintenance of Electric Transmission and Distribution System. OR Candidates without a degree with a minimum of 10 years of electric utility experience in the operation and maintenance of Electric Transmission and Distribution Systems will also be considered.
  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory experience.
  • Strong organizational skills - ability to plan, organize, and control field operations.
  • Knowledge of the Collective Bargaining Agreement for Local Union 1049K
  • Oral and written communication skills are necessary for this position as well
  • This position requires driving to company locations and off-site assignments and events, applicants must possess and maintain a valid US driver’s license with a safe and satisfactory driver history.
  • Experience troubleshooting customer power quality issues and responding to electric distribution system emergencies.
