Summer Interns: College students are hired based on strategic university recruiting needs as identified on an annual basis. The intern period is a minimum of 10 weeks, beginning June 3, 2019 and ending Mid- August.
 

Position Description:

Summer Interns will be assigned to a Distribution Control Room and will work on short-term projects related to the Distribution Operations organization; get involved in day to day activities of the Distribution Control Room and assist control room personnel in electric control room operations; spend time with the other PSEGLI groups and organizations to gain a better understanding of the company and its activities.

 

Duties include (but not limited to):

 

  • Promote safety and productivity in the Control Room environment for up to 50 servicemen and 9 operators in order to ensure safety, reliability, security and integrity consistent with the company goals, objectives and policies.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot customer electrical issues, interruptions, high/low voltage, flickering lights and open neutrals in order to identify and deliver to benefit the customer and the company.
  • Communicate with various internal and external organizations, including Public Service, elected officials and major account customers in order to keep them up to date on and resolve various issues.
  • Support company responses to electric storm management and emergency restoration within division on day-to-day basis (rotating shifts) especially during all conditions of readiness including around the clock coverage to ensure efficient and effective storm response and provide accurate restoration times to customers.
  • Assist ESD Management Team with developing various reports and strategies that are derived from raw OMS data.
  • Assist in validation process of OMS data to ensure that is complies with current standards and or Q/A audit recommendations in place.
  • Interpret data and make recommendations on work force management as necessary.

 

Education and Qualifications:

Required:

  • College level rising Juniors and Seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher seeking an Engineering or Technical/Science degree.
  • This position requires driving to company locations and off-site assignments and events, applicants must possess a valid driver’s license with a safe and satisfactory driver history.

Desired:

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Access & Excel.
  • Effective verbal and written communications skills.
  • Previous entry level work experience strongly preferred.
