Summer Interns: College students are hired based on strategic university recruiting needs as identified on an annual basis. The intern period is a minimum of 10 weeks, beginning June 3, 2019 and ending Mid- August.

Position Description:


The Forester intern position is an exciting opportunity in the Vegetation Management group.  Vegetation Management is the largest maintenance organization in PSEG Long Island.  The successful candidate will have an opportunity to see and use the latest technology in identifying hazardous trees and vines that threaten the electrical grid.

Duties include (but not limited to):


  • Auditing of contractor work
  • Prescriptive trim assessments
  • Locating and reporting on troublesome tree, vine, and right-of-way problems
  • Assessment of customer, municipal, and company-generated requests for Vegetation Management assistance
  • Upkeep of business documents and reports


Education and Qualifications:



  • College level rising Juniors and Seniors with a minimum GPA of 3.0 or higher.
  • Enrolled in a University Program which includes instruction in arboriculture and/or forestry topics.  Such program include majors in:


    • Arboriculture, Forestry, and Urban Forestry
    • Horticulture, Landscape Design, and Landscape Architecture
    • Botany, Plant Science, Field Biology, and Environmental Science
    • Parks Management
    • This position requires driving to company locations and off-site assignments and events, applicants must possess a valid driver’s license with a safe and satisfactory driver history.




  • Comfortable communicating with customer and colleagues.
  • Competent in writing and basic math, and the use of work processing and spreadsheet software.
  • Ability to identify common species of trees which are found on Long Island.
