Job Summary

The Procurement Operations Supervisor is responsible for leading and managing PSEG Long Island’s Procurement Operations team which is comprised of 8 represented Buyer 8’s.  The responsibilities for this position include providing overall direction to the Buyer 8’s; assigning and supervising daily work; and completing other duties as assigned by the Procurement Operations Manager.  The position is responsible for the development and training of the Buyer 8’s and for ensuring consistent procurement process methodologies are followed in accordance with all procurement practices and instructions. This person would lead the team: provide overall direction, assign and supervise daily work, and develop, track, and report on key metrics to upper management. The mission of the person in this position is to drive operational efficiencies through continuous improvement. The position would be responsible for the development and training of the Associates ensuring consistent process methodologies and workload stabilization and efficiencies.

Job Responsibilities


• Leads daily procurement operations.  This includes prioritizing and assigning tasks to the 8 represented members of the team; trouble-shooting problems; and addressing key stakeholders when necessary. 
• Recruits, hires, trains, manages, and develops the 8 represented people that make up the majority of the procurement operations team.  Key skills include purchasing with e-purchasing tools (Ariba, SAP), negotiations, communications, and time management.
• Develops and tracks key metrics that measure the accuracy and efficiency of the team.  The Supervisor is responsible for developing ideas to be more efficient and to execute continuous improvement efforts aimed at driving greater efficiency and accuracy. 
• Processes purchase requisitions just like the other Procurement Analysts and Buyer 8’s– like a player / coach.  This entails receiving purchase requisitions and change orders and processing them into purchase orders thereby authorizing orders for goods or services. 
• Interfaces with other PSEG Procurement groups to ensure process consistency and adopting improvements. Participate and lead when appropriate continuous improvement initiatives.

Job Specific Qualifications

Required:

• Bachelor’s Degree OR, in lieu of a degree, 10 years of related business experience
• Minimum 2 years of Procurement / Supply Chain experience 
• Demonstrated skills related to customer service and developing client relationships
• Superb communications skills – both oral and written

Desired:

• Minimum 1 to 3 years of supervisory / management experience,
. Minimum 2 years of experience using e-Procurement tools such as SAP and Ariba
. Experience managing represented employees
• Graduate degree in Business, Finance, Information Technology, Engineering, Supply chain, or Law.
• Strong analytical, market analysis and cost modeling skills
• Experience with complex problem solving and innovative sourcing strategies
• Experience working on and with cross-functional commodity management teams
• Knowledge of SAP, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Project, quality control systems (ISO, QS & Lean six sigma), e-sourcing and e-procurement applications a plus.
• Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified Professional in Supply Management (CPSM) designation.
