Job Summary

This opportunity is open to current PSEG employees only.

 

The Consumer Advocate works with customers that are eligible to receive social services assistance.  The Advocate works with various community agencies to identify outreach programs and connect the customers with the available benefits.  The Advocate may participate in community activities to connect with customers.  The Advocate may handle escalated customer inquiries.

Job Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate PSEGLI core values
  • Promote household assistance program, contribute to achieve annual goal enrollment
  • Assist financially distressed and special needs customers
  • Conduct intake interviews, assess need, explore options and develop a guide/plan
  • Make home visits as necessary
  • Identify and enroll customers in Household assistance rate
  • Advocate for customers experiencing hardship to avoid termination of service
  • Provide information on PSEGLI assistance and energy efficiency programs
  • Make referrals to, and interface with, social service agencies
  • Pursue outreach opportunities to identify and assist new customers
  • Represent PSEGLI on community advisory boards and committees
  • Collaborate with community partners to meet customer needs
  • Track trends, complete and submit monthly reports

Job Specific Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work, Business, Psychology or related discipline and 5 years of experience in social work, individual and family avocation or community outreach agency or, in lieu of a degree, a minimum 7 years of experience in social work, individual and family avocation, or community outreach agency
  • Must have thorough knowledge of public benefits/government entitlements
  • Must be proficient with Excel, Access and PowerPoint
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
  • Must be able to  analyze data and identify trends
  • Must have excellent communication skills
  • Must have and maintain a valid U.S. driver’s license
  • Must possess planning and organizational skills.
