Job Summary

This role will manage and lead strategic decisions for operational excellence and drive continuous improvement to all facets of PSEG SAP Enterprise Modernization Program. Acts as an internal consultant and a valued thought leader working closely with the SAP team on a variety of strategic projects to advance the mission of the Enterprise of excellence and continuous improvement. Develops, provides guidance and leads a team of professionals, including SET members and VPs, to deliver business intelligence, project management and analysis to the organization to make important strategic decisions. Must have a wide breadth of knowledge of the Power and Utilities industries and extensive knowledge of Lean Six Sigma, Value Stream Management and Process Design and a high level of influence in thought leadership as solutions are developed given the changing nature of our industry. Leads and influences others in order to deliver a wide variety of programs targeting the following three areas: 1) Company-wide strategic projects guided by Value Stream Management (VSM) and influences SET leadership; 2) Empowering PSEG Enterprise to embrace change through culture of continuous improvement to the lines of business leadership; and 3) Owns and drives business performance through deep understanding of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and Balanced Scorecard and the accompanying analytic designs. Additionally, responsible for the governance and oversight of all of the above as well as leading and developing a team to ensure that milestones and deliverables are met across the Enterprise.

Job Responsibilities

  • Execute strategic projects using a Value Stream Management approach and act as internal consultant for the Senior Executive Team at the Enterprise level; drive cross-functional collaboration with VPs in an effort and meet business needs effectively and efficiently utilizing broader operational insights; deliverables are prepared for and presented to SET and the Board of Directors on a regular basis. This role responsibilities include using data driven approaches bringing best practices on a topic through research, experience and leading new initiatives to transform PSEG in areas never touched previously. This role requires extensive presentation and socialization skills addressing SET level concerns and ongoing feedback.
  • Stand up and drive Operational Excellence through strategic alignment of Business Performance, Scorecards and Value Stream Management. Create governance frameworks to lead a team and work with senior management and businesses associates to address the company’s Value Stream business process pain points. Project initiatives include, but are not limited to, cost management, performance efficiency, process development, regulatory compliance, ownership/alignment, building governance models to ensure process compliance, risk reduction and other operational initiatives, in addition to include large scale transformational projects focused on supporting the company’s core business results. Uses a Value Stream Management framework to help drive PSEG value by high level formal lifecycle process tenants of 1) Strategic Alignment 2) Governance 3) Change Management 4) Process Model 5) Process Performance 6) Process Improvement 7) Tools & Technology. Create a plan, deliver the plan and report out to senior leadership on the plan on an ongoing basis. Prioritization of pain points and opportunities that optimize value to the organization is a critical success factor embedded in the VSM framework.
  • Address the emergent needs of the Enterprise to executive key initiatives by partnering directly with business leadership to identify and map out deliverables and business targets. Drive emergent initiatives to ensure goals (Compliance, Legal and other) are met in short periods of time with accurately and with thought leadership. Indirectly managing a team of professional including VPs and other individuals to ensure successful completion of projects while coaching and guiding cross functional teams. Not only does this role manage other VP teams during these emergent issues, it also protects the Company with the work done.
  • Oversight and Operational Excellence for Continuous Improvement team, including all work products, reviews, and talent development. Lead and develop team to improve internal operations to further operational excellence. Steward the development of operational excellence tools and frameworks for the department and monitor progress. Actively engage in all aspects of succession management through: ensuring there is sufficient budget allocated to development and training activities; actively stewarding the reduction of developmental gaps; ensure recruiting efforts reflect current and forecast needs in terms of leadership experience and technical expertise and stewarding employee and leadership development.
  • Design and implement improvements focused on measuring the health of specific Value Streams leveraging Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) while informing the Company's balanced scorecard creation and reporting processes.

Job Specific Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business or other highly analytical field
  • At least 10 years of experience in Business, Finance, or Consulting
  • Demonstrated ability to lead continuous improvement teams, and coach continuous improvement facilitators
  • Proven technical mastery and execution of process improvement methodologies including Value Stream Management, Lean Six Sigma and KPI development
  • Demonstrated written and verbal communication, presentation, and facilitation skills (including negotiation
  • and problem solving) in order to gain consensus on change across the enterprise at the senior most levels within the organization and externally
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
  • Demonstrated project management skills and ability to work multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proven skills focused in the areas of self-leadership, breadth of knowledge, comfort with ambiguity, easily adaptable and able to influence change.
  • Demonstrated strong quantitative and analytical capabilities
  • Demonstrated successful experience in driving change management
  • Demonstrated ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data leveraging analytical tools and statistics
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work cross-functionally in a team environment with others on sensitive issues
  • Experience in developing and deploying project best practices, policies, procedures, and processes
