IT INFRASTRUCTURE ASSOCIATE

 

An IT Infrastructure Associate provides subject matter expertise for the core technologies and processes.  Guide vendor associates on process and technical specifications as needed.  Responsible for managing the day-to-day production support activities associated with production control and coordination for infrastructure applications supporting critical business processes for PSEG lines of business. This includes developing, administering, communicating, monitoring and executing preventive maintenance programs, overseeing problem management, performing root cause analysis and corrective action plans. Provide technical support to clients, management and staff in risk assessments and implementation of appropriate data security procedures and products.  Receive general supervision and is competent to work on its own and requires only general direction for the balance of the activities.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work with infrastructure and application project teams to ensure solutions are aligned with acceptable support requirements, and that the transition and delivery of new or upgraded systems are seamlessly moved to production support teams and suppliers.
  • Monitor production system performance, availability and support costs, and report status related to plan to ensure client expectations are met.
  • Manage the Disaster Recovery (DR) Process for all scorecard and LOS applications including updating of the DR plan, as well as periodic testing and activation in the event of an emergency.
  • Develop and manage the preventive maintenance programs for Infrastructure systems including patching, upgrades, tuning and performance management.
  • Resolve complex infrastructure, client application and hardware problems impacting availability and performance of the applications.
  • Ensure Quality Control and Assurance procedures are consistent with Infrastructure specifications, client requirements and corporate policies.
  • Perform reviews and/or Root Cause Analysis on production systems failures, formulate corrective action plans, ensure corrective actions are implemented, and track their effectiveness.
  • Manage and communicate problem resolution and system restoration status during unplanned outage events to LOB and IT Senior Management.  Coordinate weekly problem management meetings with clients and support teams to discuss all open issues and tickets and to prioritize remediation efforts with planned maintenance and other activities.
  • Comply with all NERC CIP and regulatory guidelines and standards.  Comply with cyber security- related and other vulnerabilities as identified by the IT security team.  Support all internal and external audit initiatives and remediate identified deficiencies, if any. Comply with all NERC CIP and regulatory guidelines and standards.
  • Guide vendor associates on process and technical specifications as needed and manage SLAs and vendor performance on daily, weekly and monthly basis. Manage budget and process vendor invoices.
  • Responsible to keep the environment current and come up continued improvement initiatives and identify future technologies and implement new technologies once business approved.
     
    Required (Education, Experience, Skills, Knowledge):
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline
  • An IT Infrastructure Associate requires 4 years or more years of experience in Information Technology, with a minimum of 2 years in Infrastructure Support.  Without a Bachelor’s degree, 8 or more years of experience in Information Technology, with a minimum 4 years in Infrastructure Support.
  • In-depth knowledge of infrastructure technologies.
  • Excellent communication and consultative skills, and the ability to work effectively with client and IT management and staff.
  • Strong understanding Infrastructure support as well as IT Service Management (ITSM), IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) and overall understanding of Infrastructure components.
  • Demonstrated experience in vendor management in the day-to-day activities related to supporting critical systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Participate with vendors and common carriers during problem analysis/resolution as required.
  • Strong skills in project and problem management.
  • Understanding of general IT standards, policies, best practices, guidelines, processes.
  • The production management organizational structure in which this position operates requires strong facilitation skills to sustain the teamwork, coordination and communication required among associates from multiple infrastructure technologies including Helpdesk, End user computing, Midrange technologies, Network technologies and Applications.
  • IT Production Associate requires delivering and maintaining high quality services. Strong technical skills are required to develop and maintain the IT Infrastructure Production services and support.
  • Ability to work in a 24x7 environment with callout availability required
  • Perform related duties as assigned or requested.
     
    Desired: 
  • Experience with packaging applications for remote deployment to end-user devices.
  • Experience interacting effectively with customers, assessing application requests, negotiating with customers, and deploying applications appropriately to end-user devices or for self-install as appropriate.
  • Advanced degree in Information Systems or Masters of Business Administration.
  • Broad to in-depth knowledge of Business Intelligence functions, applications, and system & technology alternatives.
  • Knowledge and Certification in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) training.
  • Experience in infrastructure design, implementation and support.
