Job Summary

Responsible for the day-to-day administration, technical support, troubleshooting, maintenance, upgrades, patching, performance and overall health of an Oracle and Microsoft SQL database infrastructure within a UNIX, Linux, and Microsoft Windows Server clustered server environment. Ensure high levels of data availability and reliability of the systems. Respond effectively to the continuing demands for information 24/7 by business clients, contractors, and other areas of IT.

Job Responsibilities

(Grade 26) Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Comply with policies and procedures for the administration of the databases, maintenance and upgrades of database software, and oversight of backups and standby databases. Establish and maintain databases for user tests and production purposes.
• Work closely with business clients in understanding data access requirements and ensuring proper performance of transactions within the database in support of complex business application development requirements and processes
• Work closely with Product Managers and vendors on new systems, enhancements, and upgrades to the database environment
• Monitor and deploy security patches as required to maintain a secure system; provide support for database security and SOX audits to ensure database integrity and user access
• Proactively seek out ways to improve performance and streamline database environments
• Ensure high levels of data availability and reliability of the systems
• Participate in Disaster Recovery planning, testing and execution

(Grade 27) Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Develops and implements processes and queries for data extraction, transformation, and loading data into databases.
• Installs, modifies, maintains, and configures database high availability (HA) options (i.e. clusters, Oracle RAC, SQL Server Always On)
• Works closely with Product Owners and vendors on new systems, enhancements, and upgrades to the database environment
• Monitors databases for performance issues and implements solutions for on-going database maintenance
• Assists in troubleshooting databases issues affecting databases reliability and uptime availability.
• Performs database version upgrades

(Grade 28) Responsibilities include but not limited to:

• Designs policies and procedures for the administration of the databases, maintenance and upgrades of database software, and oversight of backups and standby databases. Establish and maintain databases for user tests and production purposes
• Works closely with business clients in understanding data access requirements and ensuring proper performance of transactions within the database in support of complex business application development requirements and processes
• Designs policies and procedures related to database security that adhere to Corporate Security Standards, eliminates potential security weaknesses, and reduces risks
• Coordinates monitoring and deployment of security patches as required to maintain a secure system; provide support for database security and SOX audits to ensure database integrity and user access
• Proactively seek out ways to improve performance and streamline database environments
• Ensure high levels of data availability and reliability of the systems of databases
• Manages Disaster Recovery planning, testing and execution

9629A Associate Technology Engineer DBA, grade 26
• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Science, Technology, Engineering or Math (STEM)
• At least 2 years or more years of DBA experience in design and administration of logical and relational databases in diverse technological environments
• Experience in file structures, design, retrieval and access methods, etc.; Understanding of the systems development lifecycle; Solid understanding of business processes; Analytical ability, good communication skills, strong judgment and the ability to work effectively with clients and IT management and staff.

9628A Technology Engineer DBA, grade 27
• Same as above plus…
• 4 or more years of DBA experience in design and administration of logical and relational databases in diverse technological environments

9627A Sr Technology Engineer DBA, grade 28
• Same as above plus…
• 6 or more years of DBA experience in design and administration of logical and relational databases in diverse technological environments

Desired:
• ITIL Foundation certificate
• Oracle and/or Microsoft SQL certifications
• Understanding of other common RDMS database systems
• Experience working with databases that are clustered and attached to a SAN infrastructure
• Experience with Oracle ASM, RAC, and Partitioning
