Job Summary

The primary purpose of this position is to handle all tax research and planning for PSEG and its subsidiaries. This includes but is not limited to: analyzing proposed and enacted federal and state tax legislation, contract review, preparation of technical tax opinions, oversee tax controversy, and administer NJ purchase of tax benefit program. All analyses should include the tax technical aspect as well as any financial statement impact.

Job Responsibilities

  • Analysis of proposed and enacted federal and state income, sales and use, personal property tax legislation and authoritative guidance for PSEG and its subsidiaries including the financial statement implications. This includes writing a quarterly memo that is distributed to the Tax Department
  • Prepare technical analysis of the application of tax law to PSEG and its subsidiaries including the analysis of various transactions and the evaluation of planning opportunities including the financial statement implications
  • Administer the NJ credit purchase program
  • Review contracts in accordance with PSEG's 930 contract review process
  • Oversee income, sales and use and personal property tax controversy for PSEG and its subsidiaries including developing audit strategies
  • Provides overall leadership and technical development for the Tax Department

Job Specific Qualifications

Required:
•    Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting with 10 years of relevant work experience
•    Prior experience managing tax professionals for 3-5 years  
•    Tax technical research skills
•    Detailed knowledge of federal and state income tax laws
•    Ability to communicate effectively with senior management

Desired:
•    JD or LLM advanced degrees
•    Utility industry experience
•    Presentation skills to executive leaders,
•    Experience developing and working with sophisticated financial models
