Directs the Network, Facilities, Radio & Server staff in the development, implementation, communication, monitoring and maintenance of all infrastructure and systems.  Develop and implement standards, procedures and guidelines for all areas. This role is responsible for the overall Infrastructure operations of 24/7 highly complex, multi-platform network and computer operations at an Enterprise level.


Work includes responsibility for organizing, supervising and reviewing the work of technical resources, production managers and managing 3rd party Managed Services vendor for various technical disciplines. Works closely with the IT and Service Corporation Finance Teams to ensure excellent financial management – this includes responsibility for managing two multi-million dollar budgets. Provide input to overall IT strategic and operational plans. This includes availability management of all IT infrastructure components relevant to their respective areas, overseeing problem management, ensuring root cause analysis and corrective action plans, providing vendor management and oversight, as well as administering and reporting on vendor and client SLAs. This role is also responsible for Performance Management of direct reports, including annual appraisals.


  • Data Center (Mgr Network) – Manage primary and Disaster Recovery (DR) data center facilities, network equipment, cabling, racking and building of server and network infrastructure
  • Network Ops Center (NOC) (Mgr Network) – Manage the network operation center – monitoring, first level support on all network infrastructure (firewalls, switches, routers, wireless, load balancers, core voice infrastructure all data and telecom services for Electric & Gas real time operations, Power, Enterprise and Services clients
  • Tier 2, Tier 3 and Field Services (Mgr Network) - Manage Tier 2, 3 and field services support on all network infrastructure (firewalls, switches, routers, wireless, load balancers, core voice infrastructure and all data and telecom services for Electric & Gas real time operations, Power, Enterprise and Services clients
  • Firewall (Mgr Network) – Manage firewall & cyber security for Electric, Gas, Power, Enterprise and Services clients
  • Authorize and maintain control of high level, administrative access (Mgr Network & Server)
  • Facilities (Mgr Network) – Manage primary and Disaster Recovery (DR) data center, facilities, manage all IT LAN room facilities, manage UPS systems, generators, ATS’, AC units, power schemes and cabling
  • Radio (Mgr Networks) – Manage Utility radio core infrastructure and systems
  • Budget (Mgr Network & Server) – Manage the budget for Network Operations, Facilities & Radio and develop initiatives geared toward managing and reducing costs.  Also manage the budget for all Midrange Systems (Windows, Unix/Linux), Storage and Databases and develop initiatives geared toward managing and reducing costs
  • Databases/Storage/Windows (Mgr Server) – Manage all databases on all servers; manage Storage, SAN & replication services (hardware & software); and manage all Windows, Unix & Linux hardware, software and operating systems
  • Critical Services (Mgr Server) - Manage critical services such as e-mail, external website, active directory, real time operations


    Required Skills, Competencies, Education and Experience:


  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related discipline, and 8 or more years of experience in Information Technology, with a minimum of 4 years in an IT Manager role of support infrastructure.
  • Without a Bachelor’s degree, at least 12 years of experience in Information Technology, with a minimum 8 years in infrastructure support.
  • In-depth knowledge of infrastructure technologies.
  • Excellent communication, analytical and consultative skills
  • Strong judgment and management skills and the ability to work effectively with clients and IT Leadership and other key constituents within the Enterprise.
  • Broad understanding of Infrastructure support.
  • Strong understanding of ITSM (ITIL) and overall understanding of Infrastructure components.
  • Demonstrated experience in vendor management in the day-to-day activities related to supporting critical systems.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain working relationships with peers, clients and vendors.
  • Strong skills in project and problem management.
  • Understanding of general IT standards, policies, best practices, guidelines, processes.
  • Strong communications, consultative and interpersonal skills, including oral, written and presentation; teamwork, collaboration, facilitation, and negotiation, with the ability to work effectively with internal clients from various business organizations and lines of business, and IT management and staff.

    Desired Skills, Competencies, Education or Experience:


  • Broad to in-depth knowledge of Business Intelligence functions, applications, and system & technology alternatives. 
  • Extensive knowledge and Certification in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) training.
  • Advanced degree in Information Systems or Masters of Business Administration.
  • Extensive application development and coding experience in one or more technologies.
  • Extensive experience in application and infrastructure design, implementation and support.
  • Experience supporting applications related to Utility power plants monitoring and maintenance.
  • Certifications related to application development and support.
  • Experience working with geographically dispersed teams of technical resources, consultants and vendors.
