Job Summary

The Manager Solution Architects leads a team of solution architects in  team analysis, design, development, and deployment of solutions, including application of Enterprise standards. Examples of these solutions may include enterprise content management, client-facing portals, custom business process workflows, and business intelligence dashboards. 

The manager partners and collaborates with key stakeholders to understand, translate, and drive the organization’s strategic goals and objectives into advanced architectural frameworks, comprehensive roadmaps, and detailed capability models. This role plays a pivotal part in reconciling diverse perspectives across the organization, fostering collaboration and driving consensus to achieve aligned business and technology outcomes.

This role is responsible for driving team success through effective development and performance management, setting clear expectations, providing constructive feedback, and creating tailored growth plans. By fostering a culture of continuous learning and open communication, they ensure alignment with organizational goals and individual growth.

Job Responsibilities

  • Partners and collaborates with key stakeholders to understand, translate, and drive the organization’s strategic goals and objectives into advanced architectural frameworks, comprehensive roadmaps, and detailed capability models. This role plays a pivotal part in reconciling diverse perspectives across the organization, fostering collaboration and driving consensus to achieve aligned business and technology outcomes.
  • Leadership in Talent Strategy and Executive Development: Spearhead strategy, focusing on leadership development and succession planning to ensure the organization's future leadership pipeline.
  • Leads the development of integrated roadmaps and capability models that encompass applications, infrastructure, technology components, and data. This involves synthesizing information from various sources to ensure a cohesive and scalable technology strategy that supports long-term business objectives.
  • Oversees the creation and maintenance of reusable architectural artifacts and design patterns. This includes leading initiatives to harvest and curate artifacts across multiple projects, significantly expanding and enhancing the library of reusable components to drive efficiency and standardization.
  • Engages proactively with project implementation teams to promote and integrate existing models, methods, services, and capabilities. This leadership ensures faster, more predictable technology solution deliveries and maximizes the reusability of technology components across the enterprise.

  • Researches and integrates modern architectural paradigms and constructs into the organization’s practices. This includes staying abreast of evolving processes such as continuous delivery and emerging technologies like microservices, and assessing their impacts on the existing and future technology architecture.
  • Ensures that all new solutions and updates are fully compatible with existing infrastructures, services, and strategic imperatives. Acts as a strategic bridge among various internal and external parties during the design and implementation phases, facilitating seamless integration of new architectural components.
  • Articulates and communicates the strategic value of the technology architecture, outlining clear business outcomes and use cases to stakeholders at all levels. This role is crucial in translating complex technical strategies into actionable insights and compelling business value propositions.
  • Provides strategic leadership and expert advice in technology investment decisions, guiding the organization through technology evaluations, selections, and implementations to maximize returns on investment.
  • Leads and significantly contributes to the development of the ecosystem strategy, conducting thorough environmental analyses, identifying opportunities, and shaping the business innovation portfolio to ensure it aligns with and supports the organization’s strategic vision.

Job Specific Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree with at least 10 years of relevant work experience
  • Utility industry experience or adjacent industry experience
  • Proven ability to lead cross functional teams to meet organizational objectives and outcomes via large scale programs
  • Experience in leading large / complex cross-functional Enterprise wide programs
  • Demonstrated capabilities in leadership, innovation, problem solving, influencing, organizing, relationship building, communications skills, strategic thinking, project management and change management. 
  • Experience driving life cycle planning, portfolio management and IT standards setting to promote technology and organizational changes in order to drive  innovation and improved business outcomes. 
  • Understanding of analytical and independent problem-solving skills; sound judgment and strong collaborative decision-making skills
  • Organizational skills and the ability to multi-task and juggle competing priorities with ease and under pressure
  • Excellent and efficient skills using MS Excel and PowerPoint tools
  • Strong interpersonal and influencing skills – and ability to interact with colleagues at all levels in a peer-like way, and achieve goals without direct control over resources
  • High attention to detail; follows through to ensure accuracy and comprehensiveness
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills and strong ability to articulate concepts and strategies effectively
  • Established internal relationships with PSEG lines of business, partners
