This position is responsible for coordinating and supervising the efforts of a group of Resource Planning Analysts and Sr. Resource Planning Analysts within PSEG Power’s Market Modeling and Analysis group in all activities related to business planning, revenue modeling and financial statements preparation. Develop, test, and regularly update the business plan models used by PSEG Power’s Market Modeling group. Continuously test reasonableness of model results, evaluate model accuracy, and strive to improve accuracy.  Coordinate the update of market data with the Market Analysis Manager and maintain consistency of market data across the various fundamental models used by the group. Coordinate with the team to insure that the most realistic unit inputs are used for units. Further develop the group’s ability to model and analyze the impact of environmental, regulatory, and transmission on power and emission markets.Track realized market prices for fuel, emission, energy and capacity. Regularly update fuel and emission price projections.As part of regular model updates, regularly forecast base case operations and margins for PSEG Power’s current and future units. Support evaluation of potential acquisitions as required. Help the group and PSEG Power develop a consensus forecast of electric energy and capacity prices, by analyzing model outputs and by comparing various in-house models to each other and to historical trends, outside forecasts and forward market prices. This individual will also be responsible for communicating the results of these analyses and defending conclusions in front of management.

 

Required Qualifications, Competencies, Education or Experience: 

 

  • Bachelors’ Degree
  • In-depth knowledge of Production Cost Modeling, Aurora, Promod and MarketPower models (or similar), Eastern Interconnect market, and market rules, particularly as they relate to unit commitment and dispatch.
  • Advanced knowledge of excel
  • Mature judgment to properly assess future environmental, regulatory, technological and economic landscape and uncertainties.
  • Demonstrated commitment to the pursuit of organizational excellence.Results-oriented, deadline-driven individual, with proven ability to coordinate the work of a team.
  • Organized and methodical individual, with very good attention to detail.

 

Desired Qualifications, Competencies, Education or Experience: 

 

  • Good knowledge of transmission.
  • Knowledge of Access
  • MBA or Advanced quantative degree
