Job Summary

The successful candidate will assist in developing and proposing future transmission, sub-transmission, and distribution system upgrades required to maintain power system reliability for the short and long range planning horizons.  This position requires close interaction for coordination of future expansion plans with the PJM Regional Transmission Organization planning group, System Operations, and local operating Divisions.  

 

Job Responsibilities

Work function includes power system simulation studies, determination of feasibility and scope for proposed network enhancements.  The job function would include engineering analysis to evaluate the timing of system reinforcements to ensure the reliability and economic operation of the bulk power system, performing complex power system engineering studies to determine the PSE&G delivery system limitations (thermal, voltage, short-circuit, and stability), operating capability and performing short range planning analysis and analyze potential operating limitations and develop operating procedures. The job requires performing technical review, modelling and analysis of Distributed Energy Resources (DER) interconnected with the PSE&G grid and developing design solutions to mitigate identified criteria violations.

Job Specific Qualifications

Essential: 

  • B.S in Electrical Engineering and at least 6 years of power systems analysis experience.
  • Requires working knowledge of power flow, contingency analysis, and short circuit.
  • Experience with electric transmission and distribution system.
  • Familiarity with inside/outside plant assets and experience in interpreting one-line diagrams.
  • Strong individual initiative and ability to work independently on most technical issues.
  • Clear and concise writing and verbal communications skills.
  • Experience leading a technical team with major accountabilities.
  • Must possess a valid U.S. driver's license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must foster an inclusive work environment and respects all aspects of diversity.
  • Applicant must have effective problem-solving and decision-making; strong planning and organizing skills; must be adaptable and be results-oriented.
  • Must be willing to work OT as required and perform on-call/emergency support as needed.

 

Desired: 

  • PE license, or advanced technical training
  • Understanding of Distributed Energy Resources 
  • Advanced technical or engineering degree
