Job Summary

The Nuclear Security Specialist (SS) is responsible for evaluating the impact of planned and emergent plant conditions or activities on the effective implementation of the site protective strategy in accordance with 10CFR73.58.   Within the Safety and Security Interface Program, the SS will interface with appropriate departments and communicate the conditions impacting the site protective strategy including compensatory and mitigating measures.   In addition, the SS represents the Security Organization at routine site work control meetings, reviews Work Week schedules, and screens planned or emergent activities.  The SS is also a quorum member at the Station Ownership Committee.  Additional administrative and coordination duties include, but are not limited to preparation of permits; scheduling of vehicle deliveries; obtaining quotations; requesting requisitions for various rental equipment used to support work; and coordination with station support on the maintenance of security equipment monitored and updated within the Security Plan Of the Day Tracker.   

Job Responsibilities

In support of the Security Organization’s Performance Improvement objectives, the SS implements and maintains operational performance indicators, as well as, evaluates and implements changes in operations,  procedures, training and other processes to close gaps to operational excellence and ensure equipment reliability.   The SS will also screen security related notifications to verify SER log entries are made when appropriate and will participate/lead self-assessments, performing evaluations, benchmarking activities, and Operational Experience (OE) Reviews in support of the Corrective Action Program.  

 

Job Specific Qualifications

REQUIRED:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.  
  • Minimum of five (5) years of nuclear security experience with extensive knowledge in executing the Nuclear Security Protective Strategy.  
  • Demonstrate effective verbal and written communication skills as well as strong leadership skills.
  • Meet and maintain Nuclear’s requirements for unescorted plant access. 

DESIRED:

  • BS degree in related field.
  • Primavera scheduling tool experience and previous supervisory experience.
