Job Summary
This position is a direct report to Senior Infrastructure support supervisor. The primary purpose of the IT Central Patch Management Group (CPMG) Senior Business Analyst is to develop and implement patch management processes to ensure that software and systems are regularly updated to protect against vulnerabilities as it relates to the NERC CIP standards, specifically CIP-007. Monitoring and reporting of patch deployment status, generation of reports, and analysis of compliance metrics are also functions this position will support that will require coordination with other teams within the NERC CIP program as well other relevant assets within the PSEG OT (Operating Technology) Infrastructure.
Job Responsibilities
- Establish, implement, maintain, and document the patch management process.
- Identify and document a patch source for each in-scope device (all the CIP-010 baseline elements such as applications and OS) with exception to ports/services.
- Monitor and review patch sources for the relevant applicable systems as required.
- Evaluate security patches for applicability and document review.
- Work with SMEs to create work instructions and processes for patching responsibilities that align with CIP-007 R2 requirements.
- Review work instructions to ensure steps outlined to generate evidence match actual work performed.
- Periodically review security patch evidence to ensure timely generation and documentation.
- Assist with inquiries to & from to regulators including but not limited to FERC, NERC, and RF.
- Attend change management meetings and work with SMEs to identify personnel changes that could impact security patch management.
- Collect changes to applications, firmware, and systems in scope for CIP-007.
- Track and create work schedules for evaluating the applicability of security patches, the installation of security patches, and mitigation plans.
Job Specific Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Math or a related technical field plus 4+ years business or related fields analysis experience, including 2+ years proven experience working with project teams to determine implementation strategy; without a Bachelor’s degree, a minimum of 8 years experience
- Understanding of and experience in IT project management methodologies, requirements management, quality assurance and IT processes
- Broad knowledge of the business area's functions and applications, and of system and technology alternatives
- Ability to work independently on technical issues by utilizing knowledge of business analysis
- Ability to work and communicate with a wide range of people – peers, vendors, staff members, and leaders
- Ability to proactively communicate technical topics in a clear, succinct, and relevant way Demonstrated ability to perform assigned work proficiently
Desired:
- Experience with mission critical technology solutions
- Experience with working in regulatory and/ or compliance environments
- Familiarity with systems administration, asset & application patching, and lifecycle management
