Job Summary
Provides leadership for Project Engineering and Design within the Electric Transmission Engineering Department utilizing a broad knowledge of business and engineering principles and practices acquired through progressive experience. Acts as a primary interface with multiple Consulting-Engineering firms for Inside Plant projects that are outsourced, and assures that PSE&G standards are maintained by these firms. Coordinate and oversee complex projects and provide liaison functions with Licensing and Permitting Group, System Planners, System Protection Engineers, Asset Experts, Vendors, Project Managers, construction and operating personnel, consultants and contractors. Review complex Civil Design drawings for conformance to PSE&G standards and applicable federal, state and local ordinances. Provide technical support during permitting and construction of projects; resolve complex technical problems and provide solutions. On call 7 days, 24 hours, for response to system emergencies. Evaluate and review drawings and documents used for construction and bid purposes. Must maintain and apply working knowledge of PSEG Standards for Business Controls and meet management’s expectations for effective internal business controls.
Job Responsibilities
Reviews and checks structural designs, calculations and in-house engineering drawings for conformance to PSE&G standards and applicable design criteria. Must demonstrate leadership in their role and have the ability to stand-in for the Group’s supervisor when required for more senior grade level. Demonstrated ability to effectively interact with internal and external groups. Cleary demonstrated individual and team leadership on critical projects and initiatives.
Job Specific Qualifications
Required: Grade 27
• B.S. in Mechanical/Industrial/Civil Engineering or equivalent degree or technical experience
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience
• Experience with review of civil design plans/prints
• Familiar with Civil Engineering codes – NJIBC, ACI & AISC
• Demonstrated ability to work well in a team environment
• Possess leadership skills, professionalism and customer/client focus
• Must have effective problem-solving and decision-making skills, strong planning and organizing skills, must be adaptable and results-oriented.
• Must have strong written and verbal communications skills
• Must be willing to work OT as required and perform on-call/emergency support as needed
• Strong computer skills in MS Office applications
• Must demonstrate and value differences in others' strengths, perspectives, approaches, and personal choices.
• Candidate must be able to interface effectively with a diverse organization and have excellent teamwork/interpersonal skills and must maintain and apply a working knowledge of PSEG Standards for Business Controls and meet management's expectations for effective internal business controls. Must possess a valid U.S. driving license and maintain a safe driving record.
