PSEG is seeking 2 summer interns to work in the Electric Asset Strategy team in the following areas:

 

  1. Transformer Engineering Group:
  • Engineering and implementation support to assist the Reliability Centered Maintenance group with transformer analytics and design aspects for IBM Asset Health Performance Platform
  • Perform work with transformer data, systems, contractors, and the RCM group to achieve more efficient methods of equipment ranking compared to existing methods
  • Model testing with various data inputs to modify and enhance model accuracy
  • Summer project includes inputting additional in service system equipment data into CMMS/SAP to enhance equipment database
  • Identify TRV capacitors and arrestors in our system based off of the one-line drawings of various substations and properly enter them into CMMS
  1. Transmission Engineering:
  • Provide support of engineering for hydraulic and mechanical design aspects of underground transmission system
  • Development of specifications and standards for installation of “pipe-type” and extruded cable systems (i.e. pressurization plants, valve cabinets, thermal dynamic and fluid expulsion calculations, piping design)
  • Validation and testing of the Company’s Pipe-Type Cable leak detection thermal models
  • Examine field data collected from monitoring systems, examining accuracy of the model and its various inputs
  • Modify existing model to enhance data collection and model accuracy

Required Education/Skills: The successful candidate (s) must be actively pursuing a Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, or similar related major. PSEG recognizes institutions of higher education, which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent.

Preferred Skills: 

3.0 GPA;

All PSEG internship roles are paid at an hourly rate, however there are no benefits associated with these positions. Candidates are expected to work 40 hours per week over the summer period for the full 10-12 week period. We are targeting: Currently enrolled students, staying in the NJ/NY/PA metro area for the duration of the internship and able to commute to the assigned work location. Housing, transportation, immigration Support will not be provided in association with these positions.

 

As an employee of PSE&G or PSEG Long Island, you should be aware that during storm restoration efforts, you may be required to perform functions outside of your routine duties and on a schedule that may be different from normal operations.
