PSEG has multiple full-time opportunities in our Information Technology organization located in Newark, NJ.

This is a multi-level position and placement is dependent upon the skills, knowledge and experience of the candidate. There are multiple positions available and they are located at our General Office in Newark, New Jersey.

 

Our Technology Professional role is an entry-level role that provides college hires the opportunity to be involved in meaningful work/projects throughout the Information Technology organization.  This position prepares candidates for advanced information technology positions through challenging assignments, and allows them to develop their skills the areas of advanced information technology positions through challenging assignments and allows them to develop their skills and launch an exciting career in information technology.

 

This position will provide monitoring of technology infrastructure and applications. They are the point of contact and escalation for network related incidents. Analyze simple to complex network incidents and determines appropriate resolution to problems and makes suggestions for improvements and/or determines if vendor assistance is required. Works closely with management, clients, other systems technical staff and vendors in problem solving. Consults with the supervisor and IT professionals when the appropriate course of action is unclear or a major problem is suspected. They are responsible participating in major incident management activities, identifying network performance issues, and trends. Initiates and coordinates corrective actions. Performs related duties as assigned or requested.

 

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Information/Computer Security, Engineering or a related STEM discipline. 
  • For a Technology Professional, GL24, a minimum 3.0 GPA and a level of experience required ranges from internship to 4 years of relevant experience within the IT field or an industry with reliance on technical expertise.
  • For the Sr Technology Professional, GL25, at least 2 years of related work experience of relevant experience within the IT field or an industry with reliance on technical expertise.
  • Overall strong technical proficiency in information technology/computer disciplines.
  • Strong MS Office skills (i.e. Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access)
  • Experience working with or related coursework in .NET, HTML, SQL, Java, Java scripting or Object Oriented Design.
  • Self-starter with the demonstrated ability to learn new technical concepts quickly.
  • Detail oriented and demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Good written and oral communication skills.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work effectively with clients, IT management and staff.
  • Network Operations are 24 x 7 shift rotation work may be required

 

Desired:

·         Experience administering, configuring, and troubleshooting switches, routers, firewalls.

·         Experience administering and managing F5 load balancers.

·         Ability to review and interpret network diagrams, documentation, including policies and procedures.

·         Minimum two years of experience troubleshooting network devices communications.

·         Experience working with vendors and carriers for troubleshooting and resolving problems.

·         Detail oriented and demonstrated strong analytical and problem solving skills.

·         Prior experience in a multiple data center operation.

·         Experienced in supporting cloud infrastructure deployments and maintenance.

·         Computer or network related certifications Cisco CCNA or CCNP preferred.
