Job Summary
This is a first level supervisory position in the Electric Division. This is a PSE&G position and as such may be required to perform functions different from normaloperations and work schedule during storm/outage restoration efforts. Reporting to an alternate work location may also be required.
Job Responsibilities
- Achieve the desired results of the Electric Transmission and Distribution Organization (Vegetation Management) utilizing PSEG values and tools, sound management practices and skills, as well as a total commitment to teamwork.
- Assist requesting divisions in emergency restoration efforts during “routine”, minor and major events.
- Oversee the activities of Vegetation Management associates (PSE&G and Vendor Resources) to ensure safe and efficient vegetation related activities outside of plant facilities.
- Supervise the vegetation management aspects of construction of outside plant electric transmission and distribution facilities.
- Assist in the training and development of personnel.
- Promote safety principles.
- Counsel associates, as required.
- Assign and direct work to accomplish the desired results in a safe, efficient, and expeditious manner.
- Accept call out assignments.
- Be willing to respond outside of normal hours.
- Layout/supervise the work of others.
- Train/instruct personnel in work practices and use of tools and equipment.
- Extensive knowledge of applicable portions of Company/Union agreement.
- Must exhibit ability to recognize unusual conditions and take corrective action.
Job Specific Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in the maintenance and oversight of Distribution and/or Transmission vegetation line clearance activities.
- Knowledge of local, state, and federal environmental compliance requirements.
- Safety sensitive position. D.O.T. testing required.
- Because the job requires driving to company locations and off-site assignments and events, must have a valid U. S. driver’s license and maintain a satisfactory driving record.

- Must be ISA Certified Arborist & ISA Utility Specialist.
- Must obtain an acceptable score on the First Line Supervisor's Test (FLST) unless presently an internal employee and directly supervising (i.e., responsible for performance review) union, operating department/represented associates for a minimum of 12 continuous months. For those who have previously taken and received an acceptable score on the FLST but who are not presently and directly supervising represented associates, test results will be valid for a maximum period of two years from the date the test was taken. Acceptable test results exceeding the two-year period (for those applicants not presently and directly supervising represented associates) cannot be used in bidding on or applying for a first line supervisory position for which the test was validated.

- Advanced education involving Arboriculture and/or related experience.
- ISA Tree Risk Assessment Qualified (TRAQ)
- Practical knowledge regarding individual plant species and growth rates
- Well versed with Excel, Ariba, Outlook and SAP
- Ability to embrace and utilize evolving industry technologies.
