Job Summary

This is a second level supervisory position. As a Department Lead, provide supervision in the construction, operation and maintenance of overhead electric distribution facilities. Achieve the desired results of the Electric Distribution Department through the use of winning behaviors and tools, sound management practices and skills and a total commitment to teamwork. Ability to manage all aspects of Distribution operations on a day-to-day basis and direct team in accomplishing desired results.

Job Responsibilities

  • Ensure quality and quantity of work performed is in compliance with Company standards and procedures, safe work practices and government regulations
  • Maximize system reliability by ensuring timely and effective planning and scheduling
  • Develop MAST and bargaining unit personnel group skills to effectively meet goals and performance objectives
  • Assist in the development of objective and the budgets to support these objectives and maintain operating expenditures within allowable variances
  • Coach, counsel and recognize associates in accordance with Positive Discipline
  • Conduct fact-finding and grievance meetings as required
  • Conduct performance appraisal reviews with MAST and bargaining unit associates
  • Ensure Electric Department on call coverage and accept call out and mutual aid obligations
  • Expected to be available off-hours, even when not on-call
  • Expected to participate in on-call rotation with the other department supervisors
  • Must establish and maintain excellent working relationships with both internal (within the Division) and external departments

Job Specific Qualifications

Required: 

  • High School graduate or equivalent
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in hands-on overhead construction/operations/maintenance of overhead electric distribution facilities
  • Must have 5 years supervisory experience (can be inclusive of chief experience and upgraded supervisor experience, and first line supervisor experience); (Union workforce supervision is preferred).
  • Demonstrated organizational, interpersonal, oral and written communication skills
  • Extensive knowledge of applicable portions of Company/Union Agreement.
  • Ability to recognize unusual conditions and take corrective actions
  • Working knowledge of work management system (MWMS); Outage Management System (OMS)
  • Must possess and maintain a valid driver's and CDL license
  • Safety Sensitive Position - D.O.T. Testing Required
  • Must obtain an acceptable score on the First Line Supervisor's Test (FLST), unless currently supervising BU direct reports.
