Duties - Performs work of high skill in the inspection, repair, testing, adjustment, installation and removal of all mechanical power plant equipment. Work will primarily be at our Salem and Hope Creek Nuclear Stations.


Duties are:


1. Setup and operate lathes, milling machines, shapers, drill presses and other machine tools in the performance of all machine work to close tolerances (+ .001”).

2. Inspect and repair all turbines, heat exchangers, pumps, fans, coal handling equipment and similar equipment.

3. Dismantle and reassemble turbine generators during inspection.

4. Scrape, fit and adjust all bearings where precision fit and adjustment are required.

5. Align and balance rotating equipment.

6. Machine, fit and install such parts as turbine blades, turbine packing, couplings, etc.

7. Reseat high-pressure valves in place.

8. Perform other similar or less skilled work of the maintenance occupational groups.


Qualifications: Must meet the Company's `General Requirements' and, in addition:

§ Must have had at least two years' experience as a Station Mechanic, or the equivalent.

§ Must have a comprehensive knowledge of the construction, operation and function of power generating equipment.

§ Must have a thorough working knowledge of the application and safe use of hoists, tackle, and other rigging equipment used in this work.

§ Must hold and maintain an auto driver's license to operate vehicles in the State of New Jersey.

§ Must be able to work from blueprints.

§ Must be skilled in the use of hand and power tools.
