This position will provide PSE&G Electric Operations' safety program leadership and implementation by establishing and maintaining industrial health and safety performance and programs for PSE&G Electric Division. Establishes safety & health programs under the direction of the H&S Lead Coordinator-Electric and provides technical oversight, and guidance to ensure compliance with federal and state regulations pertaining to employee and contractor safety and health.

Major Responsibilities:

Responsible for overall safety and health management and subject matter expertise; provide advice, guidance and counsel for all levels of management and bargaining unit, local H&S councils and LOB H&S councils, in all areas of health and safety including policies; procedures, standards, incident investigation sand H&S system components. Work with management and represented personnel to identify and mitigate hazards. Perform field audits, inspections and assessments of safety programs and processes and initiate corrective actions. Develop and maintain safety and health communications and programs in compliance with company policy. Develop hazard control methods and programs. Develop, implement and monitor health and safety training that meets company requirements. Provide input for OSHA record keeping. Provide timely and effective messages to maintain high awareness levels, reducing hazards and the potential for on-the-job injuries and motor vehicle collisions. Perform analysis of H&S statistics to keep abreast of timely and accurate reporting and identify improvement opportunities. Analyze and review existing work procedures to establish new methodologies and procedures to improve business and safety operations. Responsible and accountable for improvement in health and safety scorecard measures and progress toward top decile Electric Delivery’s H&S performance.

Required Skills, Competencies, Education or Experience:

  • At least two years of equivalent experience in industrial safety.
  • At least three years of experience in electric delivery and knowledge of operations or maintenance.
  • Must be able to work varying shifts to support division and field operations.
  • Must work toward completing Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or Occupation Health and Safety Technician (OHST) or Certified Utility Safety Professional (CUSP) training
  • Required to attend and complete professional development safety training
  • Strong leadership, adaptability, decision making, problem solving, teamwork, communications, client/customer satisfaction focus skills
  • Extensive knowledge of OSHA regulations and relevant consensus standards i.e. ANSI, ASTM, NFPA, etc.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication and persuasive interpersonal skills and strong analytical and presentation skills
  • Must have a valid drivers’ license

  • CSP,OSHT or CUSP certification preferred
