Job Summary

The Principal Technology Architect (OT) will be responsible for creating high-quality operational technology architecture and solutions that meet PSEG’s goals and strategic direction. Will set the direction for the OT applications and standards and work very closely with stakeholders to gather requirements, propose OT architectural solutions, and provide economic and business justification for such plans. Would be an outstanding communicator and would represent Information and Technology wing of PSEG in the Operations Technology space and its services.  Will be authoring and proposing initiatives and system projects to the steering board and board of public utilities for funding the new initiatives.

 

In addition to having a thorough understanding of the NERC Critical Information Protection Standards, the successful candidate show also demonstrate depth of experience with ADMS (Advance distribution management system) System and implementation, integration of the ADMS system into the network, Wireless SCADA devices and their configurations, as well as multiple vendor ADMS  and protection systems. This position is a direct report to the Technology Group Manager of the ADMS platform and will be part of the dedicated team supporting the Utility OT systems, e.g. supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA)

Please note this position is hybrid, comprised of remote and in office work.  PSEG reserves the right to amend the hybrid model at any time.

Job Responsibilities

Provide leadership in the Operations Technology domain for the development of high quality, tightly integrated, consistently available, secure, flexible, and fault-tolerant ADMS, and hardened network architecture.
•    Oversee standards development and project solution blueprints.
•    Create, architect, develop, and propose solutions to complex technical, procedural, and compliance type problems.
•    Identify new technologies and work with vendors to develop technology roadmaps for internal implementation.
•    Works with Clients in identifying, specifying and analyzing business requirements and processes and provide subject matter expertise throughout the application design, test and implementation process (requires innovative and creative solutions and frequently involve multiple platforms, software, hardware, technologies and tools).
•    Work with various subject matter experts and vendors to perform reviews and/or Root Cause Analysis on production systems failures, formulate corrective action plans, ensure corrective actions are implemented and track their effectiveness.
•    As a subject matter expert (SME) oversee the operation and maintenance of ADMS systems including applications, software, servers, workstations, networks, PC equipment, printers and related equipment including security requirements.  Author OT architecture presentations and concepts for management and executive-level audiences.
•    Propose budgetary estimates and work with Management for justification and prioritization of OT implementation plans.
•    Conduct yearly review and benchmarking of overall OT system architecture.
 

Job Specific Qualifications

BA/BS degree in Electrical Engineering or Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field or equivalent work experience
•    6 years if managing people or 8 years of technology architecture experience to include
•    Working with individuals and teams involved in SCADA or Power Control Systems 
•    Technical experience with designing and implementing large scale OT networks – Energy Management Systems, SCADA (OSI Monarch, RT SCADA, Citect), SCADA Protocols (DNP3, Modbus, PG&E Protocol, IEC-61850) 
•    Broad to in-depth understanding of IT/OT systems supporting utility electric and gas operations.
•    Experience in an IT Operations role supporting applications and/or infrastructure.
•    Demonstrated leadership capabilities through projects or other work planning experiences.
•    Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) process, project management, database technology, and operating system components of environments.
•    Strong communications, consultative and interpersonal skills, including oral, written and presentation; teamwork, collaboration, facilitation, and negotiation, with the ability to work effectively with staff at all levels in both the client and IT.
•    Demonstrated competence in leading architecture, design, development, and deployment related to a domain or associated sub-domain.
