Job Summary

Perform construction support of outside plant overhead transmission construction and maintenance.  Provide technical assistance through the application of engineering and business knowledge.  Support the construction / maintenance process to improve the coordination of material and equipment delivery. Provide assistance to field locations to verify receipt of equipment and/or material.  Provide technical support to Transmission Supervisors, Right of Way Supervisor, Senior Analysts - Construction and Contractors.  Provide Safety and Environmental oversight for complex construction activities.  Provide daily job site inspection of work to ensure completion in accordance with established designs, procedures, and contract documents.  Manage the timely processing of field generated in-service and closeout reports.  Ensure Contractor compliance with respect to proper invoicing and processing for payment in accordance with Company Policy.

 

 

Job Responsibilities

  • Perform construction support of inside plant construction project work and provide technical assistance through the application of engineering/business knowledge.
  • Takes on responsibility for monitoring portions of the larger jobs.
  • Support the construction process to improve the coordination of material and equipment delivery.
  • Provide assistance to field locations to verify receipt of equipment and/or material. Verifies match to PO as well as materials shipped meet specifications required.
  • Provide technical support to Construction Specialists and Commissioning Engineers
  • Become familiar with Safety and Environmental oversight for complex construction activities.
  • Provide daily job site inspection of work to ensure completion in accordance with established designs and procedures.

Job Specific Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or minimum of six years of professional experience
  • 2 – 5 years of electrical utility, power system infrastructure design, substation or outside plant electric distribution and/or transmission systems
  • As the job requires driving to Company locations and off-site assignments and events, must possess a valid driver’s license with a safe and satisfactory driver history
  • Must possess excellent, clear and concise written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated strong computer skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • Must possess demonstrated leadership skills, professionalism and customer/client focus
  • Must possess effective problem-solving and decision making skills, strong planning and organizing skills, and be adaptable and results oriented

Desired Skills:

  • Experience in Electrical Outside Plant Design, Engineering, construction and/or maintenance
  • Experience with cellular attachments or other third party attachments
  • Experience with scope development, bid solicitation, procurement and invoice processing, and contract administration
  • Experience with GIS, MEGA, and/or SAP
