Job Summary

This position is open to current PSEG employees only.

 

This is a multi-level position (Grade Level 25 - 27) in the Mobile Construction Workforce (MCW) department that is posted at the entry level. The title and grade level assigned to the successful candidate will be determined by assessing skills and related experience, learned through the interview process. This role will report to the Manager Outside Plant Construction, and provide support for the Mobile Construction Workforce department ensuring safe, reliable, and timely completion of 69kV projects.

 

The successful candidate will provide management and technical assistance through the application of engineering and business knowledge; track project status, completion and closeout; support the construction/maintenance process to improve the coordination of material and equipment delivery; provide assistance to field locations to verify receipt of equipment and/or material; and provide support to Distribution Supervisors.

Job Responsibilities

Additional duties include:

 

  • Coordinate with/provide support to supervisors and analysts as needed and directed
  • Track on-going projects and measure progress of the projects
  • Track detailed project target dates and consult with all team members to ensure they are able to meet all milestones
  • Help to develop and track budget effectiveness / efficiency
  • Understand and apply Company / Union Agreement
  • Support employees, outside vendors, consultants and contractors, as needed and directed
  • Serve as a liaison to facilitate communication with divisions, contractors, suppliers and other internal and external stakeholders, as needed

 

The successful candidate will possess clear and concise writing and verbal communications skills; effective problem-solving and decision-making skills; strong planning and organization skills; leadership skills, professionalism and customer / client focus; and be adaptable and results-oriented.

 

As an employee of PSE&G and MCW, you should be aware that during Storm/Outage restoration efforts, you may be required to perform functions different from normal operations and your regular work schedule. You may also be required to work in an alternate location.

 

Job Specific Qualifications

Required Skills, Knowledge and Experience:

            • B.S. Degree in Engineering
            • A minimum of 0-2 years of relevant engineering experience
            • Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
            • As the job requires driving to Company locations and off-site assignments and events, must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license with a safe and satisfactory driving history
            • Must obtain Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
            • Must complete necessary training and qualify to hold an assignment in PSE&G’s Tagging System

Preferred / Desired Skills:
 

  • Advanced Technical or Engineering Degree
  • Advanced technical training
  • Electrical utility experience
  • Familiarity with electric transmission and distribution equipment and operations
  • Able to read / understand electrical one lines
  • Knowledge of outage planning and scheduling process
  • PMP - Project Management Professional Certification
