The position is a growth series (Grade Level 25 – 27) typically posted at the lowest level. The title, grade level and incentive target assigned to the successful candidate will be determined based upon the skills and relevant experience of the candidate learned through the interview process.

 

 

The Asset Management and Planning Engineer will provide technical support to the Project Origination team in the development of preliminary engineering projects using Microstation drawing software. Project Origination develops and supports the design of major electrical transmission and distribution capital projects (4 kV – 500 kV) from inception to turnover to the project team in terms of safety, reliability, functional performance requirements, timely completion and within scope and budget.

                                                      

Job Responsibilities

Responsibilities include the following: interface and coordinate with groups throughout PSE&G including AMP Engineering and Planning, Project Teams, L&P, Construction, Outage Planning, Project Engineering, Regional Public Affairs and Outreach, and Corporate Real Estate to develop conceptual scoping documents, optimal station layouts, one-line control drawings, Level 1 project schedules, and estimates during initial phase of projects; act as the primary Company interface with multiple Architect-Engineering firms during the initial phases of a project, assuring that PSE&G standards are maintained and review construction vendor performance. 
Overall, the successful candidate will provide assistance to the lead engineer in providing broad technical assistance on preliminary engineering project. The candidate will also support goal development, monitor and report progress on initiatives and Scorecard metrics, and solves straight forward project management and engineering problems; analyze possible solutions and assess each using standard procedures. 
The candidate will also collaborate with the Project Origination team to implement and control the project (e.g. Weekly status report, internal and external communications to vendors, and team communications).
Track outstanding project receivables and when necessary assist project managers to research and resolve issues related to payment of invoices. The candidate will archive project documents according to local procedures and ensures compliance to regulatory guidelines, procedures and PSEG’s safety policies.
 

Job Specific Qualifications

•    Bachelors in Engineering
•    A minimum of 0-2 years of relevant engineering experience
•    Strong computer skills in Microsoft Office applications
•    Clear and concise writing and verbal communications skills
•    Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills; strong planning and organizing skills; adaptable and results-oriented
•    Possess leadership skills, professionalism and customer/client focus
•    As the job requires driving to Company locations and off-site assignments and events, must possess a valid
U.S. driver’s license with a safe and satisfactory driving history
•    Must be willing to work OT as required and perform on-call duties, including emergency replacement work and assist during system emergencies.


Preferred / Desired Skills and Experience:
•    Electrical utility experience
•    Familiarity with the transmission and distribution systems
•    Able to read / understand electrical one lines
•    Previous experience with AUTOCAD, Microstation, or similar engineering drawing software
