Job Summary

Directly supervise Sr. Construction Specialist/Construction Specialists/Construction Support Specialist and contract employees, including planning and scheduling of assigned work for area of responsibility and staffing. Responsible for performance reviews.

Job Responsibilities

  • Lead the activities of civil construction projects for major new, replacement and upgraded electric facilities for the Inside Plant Construction Group in the Projects and Construction (P&C) Organization.
  • Directly supervise Construction Specialists and Contract Employees, including planning and scheduling of assigned work for area of responsibility and staff.
  • Supervise the efforts of Bargaining Unit Associates and Contractors (trade union personnel).
  • Manage and coordinate the work of multiple contractors and trades.
  • Resolve Contractor conflicts, schedule issues and labor disputes.
  • Drive/promote safety throughout the job site and ensure environmental compliance.
  • Interface with governmental agencies for regulatory compliance with permitting and licensing requirements.
  • Direct the layout, excavation, fabrication and construction of concrete foundations and structures for the installation of inside plant major equipment.
  • Provide daily job site inspection of work to ensure completion in accordance with established designs, specifications and PSE&G/industry standards.
  • Complete construction reports, Contractor billing, in-service reports, Contractor/vendor evaluations and project close-out reports.
  • Perform on-call duties and provide emergency response and restoration of major inside plant failures.
  • Must complete necessary training and qualify to hold an assignment in PSE&G’s Tagging System.
  • Maintain and apply working knowledge of PSEG Standards for Business Controls and meet management's expectations for effective internal business controls.

Job Specific Qualifications

Required Skills:

  • High school diploma with at least eight (8) years of relevant knowledge and experience in electric distribution design / engineering, operations, maintenance or construction
  • Extensive knowledge and experience in civil construction for electric substations / switching stations
  • Working knowledge and experience of computer-based business applications, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, etc.)
  • Previous leadership, supervisory or contractor oversight experience.
  • Strong written and oral communications skills
  • Because the job requires driving to company locations and off-site assignments and events, must possess a valid U.S. driver’s license with a safe and satisfactory driver history
