This is a “Project” position designed to support project work for a limited duration. While the exact duration of the project is yet to be determined, we currently anticipate a period of 3-5 years based on business needs at the present time following which you will separate from the Company. It is important for you to understand that this period may be shortened based on business needs in the future at which point you will separate from the Company. It is also important for you to understand that this employment is of a limited duration and that you will not be entitled to separation benefits under any PSEG plan at the time you separate from the Company. Director Level approval and waiver will be required for you to bid on other PSEG opportunities within the first 3 years of assignment. From year 4 through the end of your assignment, Director level approval and waiver will not be required. If your assignment ends prior to the anticipated timeframe based on business needs, you will be allowed to bid on other PSEG opportunities without Director level approval from the time you are notified your assignment will be ending through the end date of the assignment.


This is a multi-level growth series position (Grade Level 29/30). The title, grade level and incentive target assigned to the successful candidate will be determined by assessing skills and related experience, learned through the interview process.


Position description:

Lead, direct and oversee the construction of all major new, replacement and upgraded electric inside plant facilities including transmission substations, switching stations, buildings and structures.


Responsible for construction related activities including but not limited to; resource scheduling, constructability review, recommendation to award, invoice approval and construction execution. Manage the emergency response and restoration to major inside plant facility failures. Oversee the activities of inside plant construction associates (PSE&G and contractor) to ensure safe and efficient construction.


Responsible to deliver safe, on-time, on budget, construction of these facilities in support of Regional Transmission Expansion Program and Reliability Enhancement Program.  Provide leadership to and development of the Inside Plant Construction team. Provide accurate and timely feedback regarding performance and operations. Conduct performance reviews and identify opportunities for growth and learning for construction personnel. Provide direction and leadership and apply benchmark learnings to focus efforts on achieving company and business unit goals. Monitor, review and provide guidance to meet scorecard metrics around safety, productivity, reliability and customer service. Maintain and apply working knowledge of PSEG Standards for Business Controls and meet management's expectations for effective internal business controls.



• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, or 10 years equivalent experience directly related to Substation design, engineering and/or construction and a working knowledge of project management.

• Minimum of eight years of comprehensive knowledge of construction-related processes and experience in construction of inside plant facilities and in the management and oversight of construction contractors.
• Must possess demonstrated leadership skills, professionalism and customer/client focus.
• Exhibit knowledge of computer based engineering and business applications. Experience with SAP WBS structures and other project management/control & schedule software applications, i.e. MS Excel, Word and Project, Primavera.
• Must possess and use strong oral and written communication skills.
• Above average ability to write and establish procedures and be computer literate while not challenged by new technology or methods.
• Knowledge of environmental and regulatory compliance, applicable safety rules, environmental regulations and statutes, practices and procedures including safety tagging.
• Because the job requires driving to company locations and off-site assignments and events, must possess a valid driver’s license with a safe and satisfactory driver history.



• Advanced degree in Management, Business or Engineering

• Thorough understanding of PJM rules for the scheduling of Transmission Outages

• Estimating experience, preferably for substation projects

• Project controls, cost control and/or scheduling

• PE License
